Great photo Velorum, I love my 29A as well and it's now the watch I wear daily.
If I could change anything about it though I'd add a sapphire crystal, tritium lime and "Made in England" at the bottom of the dial.

    Im wearing it today

I was trying to find smiths logo as in the 1940s. I did notice that there were some that just had the Smiths with no boobies. Would that be more accurate for a 1940s homage?

A small plea for this one, beyond any other no date watch, is that if there is a premium for the 2801 over the 2804 I think you should opt for it; or get the latter fettled. This watch promises to be so perfect the even the slightest blemish would be a disappointment too far.

    2801s are on order.

t'other thread suggests we might see these come into stock in late August, which is very exciting.

I had trouble keeping up with the spec as the discussion progressed over 5 pages - am I correct that we're getting both white / cream and black dial variants, 20mm lug width with shoulderless springbars and drilled lugs, and a box sapphire?

I had wanted to try and look into the font a bit more, but ran out of hours in the week... I'm sure this will look a beauty!

I’ve just managed to get a B the only thing I would change is fixed bars [not complaining] ,I can’t see why anybody would want to change the A in any way.

I extracted the numerals as best I could here:

If someone has Adobe Photoshop, perhaps they can try the "Find Font" feature ? I don't hold out much hope, but...

    https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/ho...ont-image.html
    https://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/...tch-font-tool/

Online tools I tried for matching:

Nothing turns up any fonts with the open 6's and 9's

https://www.whatfontis.com (0 match, some decent options...)
    https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ (0 match)
    https://www.fontsquirrel.com/matcherator (0 match)
    http://www.identifont.com (0 match)

I also scrolled through umpteen sans serif fonts (because the 1 is straight) at the URL below until I hit... "Universal Doomsday" and that seemed a good time to give up.

    https://www.myfonts.com/search/tag%3...ts/?sort=sales

I think it would be as well to have someone just create a limited character-set font from the images we have available. It's only 10 numbers after all.

It's not like we have to create an entire alphabet based on only a 5 character sample ("OMEGA").
    Interesting reading below on that...

    https://www.omegawatches.com/hertime...-of-a-typeface

This is also pretty cool if you are a font nut...
    https://www.fontshop.com/glossary/

I even tried googling if anyone has identified the vintage fonts on say an Omega Seamaster (also open 6 & 9) to get us in the ballpark. No joy, but maybe someone else will have better results.

PS. This seems to be the link to the current Zeno version

I think when Eddie originally released the box sapphire version, it was a mistake at the manufacturer, and he switched to the flat crystal because ... $$$

    But <swoon>

Maybe a daft question but is the new 29(a) going to look exactly like the blueprint? Particularly the numerical font?

The new PRS-29A looks interesting, like the idea of a vintage shaped sapphire crystal. Hope it has AR. Not sure about 20mm lugs, 18mm seemed fine for a 36mm watch.

Longines beat you to the white dial. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/lo...ch-introducing

I was looking at the exact article myself last night and snatched a few images . Why did longines make it automatic though not manual ?

I think the Ivory prs 29a will have this beat . It doesn’t have the aged patina neither. Many people don’t like it . I’m one . There’s not many reviews of that longines military out there .

Yeah the automatic kills the Longines for me, that crown would have made it a joy to wind too, what a miss. for this reason I'm far more interested in the 29a.

Completely and goes against the grain of the original . I had an opportunity for a 29a recently and let it go . I’m spoilt for choice now with these new renderings .

They never said on hodinkee what the crystal was on that Longines - does anyone know ? I suspect it’s sapphire as I saw no acrylic distortion .

The white dial Air Ministry pre-dates the Longines by decades, there were a few. The Longines is approximately CHF2000.

Thanks Eddie that’s going to look great . I thought it may of reverted to flat after the 29b change due to crystal prices increasing . Can’t wait for this to be released !

I am quite looking forward to both versions of the PRS-29, and hopefully will get both depending on how my watch fund is looking. I missed out on the previous batch as I was not sure of getting yet another watch when I had just acquired the PRS-82, and then the PRS-29 sold out. So I'll be sure to grab one this time around.

I really like the vintage vibes and the small size of these, and the off-white/cream version is not something you see often.

Am I right in my understanding that the PRS-29A will likely be available end of Aug. / beginning of Sep., and the PRS-29C end of Dec. / beginning of Jan.? If so, that would work in my favor as it would leave some time for the watch fund to replenish in between.

Oh we know! Have you ever considered calling the site teasefactors ? Wait no, that sounds like a peep show . Oh well I await the peepery!

The 29c is going to be the hot ticket I think , ivory dial , blued hands , manual wind , sapphire ... longines just got walloped I think . 1-0 , back of the net - boom

    Fantastic! Congratulations.

Will there be a black dial version too, or is that base to be covered by the new 36mm Everest?
