    PRS 40?

Will there ever be new stock of the PRS 40?

NH15 movement eh? So that means we can expect an auto version in the future, or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

I’m not sure how I would feel about a mechanical movement in the PRS40; it kind of takes away some of its “no frills” simplicity.

Having said that, I could live with a hand wound rather than automatic.

I’ve had two and sold them both but I think s third would be a keeper.

The NH15 is the 6R15, better quality than the usually used NH35. When it was only a quartz, I had many enquiries for an automatic version. Now I'm doing it as an automatic, the first comment is "I'd prefer quartz" :-)

Maybe I’m in a minority of one Eddie!

I’m sure I could live with an auto though.

Is it feasible to offer both, like you did with the PRS 18? I guess the auto version will not be 195 quid.

The minimum order is 300 per model so there can be only one.

    Very nice.
I imagine this is a few months away yet Eddie?

I would also be in the quartz camp for this; I can see the crown being a massive PITA with the strap being in behind it. No big deal on a quartz where it's set and forget for 6 months but potentially more annoying on an auto. Perhaps it could be mitigated by a push/pull rather than screw-down?

    It's never been screw down.

Auto is great, I can add that to my quartz version and they could be a couple :). Still no date is a winner imho.
It’s still a great no frills design, my cheapest watch, but it gets the most attention.

Eddie, The NH15 is a mid size movement (23.8mm diameter) with rather modest timekeeping claims (-35 ~ +55 s/day). The 6R15 equivalent is the NE15 with a 27.4mm diameter and much better timekeeping (-15 ~ +25 second per day). I guess the reference to NH15 on the spec sheet for the PRS40 may be a typo.

Will this have similar strength lume to the PRS18Q COSC? Or like a torch like the previous PRS40?

My quartz is surviving South America at the moment.
Can't spot the difference from the picture.

This is very exciting, mine has survived 2 years of abuse in the workshop and doesnt seem to have a single scratch on the sapphire - runs about -1 sec a month too, would definitely be interested in the auto!

    I had the quartz one.

The second hand missing the markers irritated me a bit, and the minute hand had a slight "waggle". I sold it, but would definitely have an auto version.

What with this and the Caribbean 1000 homage (discussed in Watch Talk) I'll be getting my salary sent directly to Eddie and if there's anything left he can send it on to me.

Will the standard one and chrono come down the line at the same time?

New member here, I'm wondering the same thing. Does the potential auto version of the PRS-40 mean no more quartz models?

Good to be here. I'm late to the game when it comes to Precista and Smiths and it seems I missed a few that appeal to me. Anyway, I'll be ordering the Seafire this week, maybe the PRS-82 in a month or two. Hopefully by then things will have progressed with the PRS40.

Are you going to sell the two configurations or are these just prototypes to see which you prefer?

I'm really confused with all the new models coming fast lately, but the chrono version of the PRS40 is still highest on my list.

Don't think zulu strap suits the PRS-40. Would prefer the squared off hardware nato.
