    Sotheby’s Double Red

I presume you’ve all seen it.

    Provenance looks good.

    Gory history: check

    Patina: certainly

    Price: wowsers.

I know it’s a guide price and it did the necessary and got me interested.

At £15k I’m interested. Wonder what it will fetch.

My word, that’s some background story. Could be out of a movie.

Without the provenance could well be around 15k, but with what it has, and if the dial has no issues then it could be over 30k with the right couple of people in the room.

+ 30% commision ? That would be £28,600 before the teenagers here need to reach for a calculator.

    Correct.

I’d have been happy taking a punt on a £15k hammer price but north of that I’d really need a proper view to be taken of the state of the watch. Frankly £15k (£19,500) as a punt is naive and foolhardy but one I was willing to take.

I really enjoyed reading that cheers.

Old battered watch worth a fortune.

Crazy world is the world of vintage Rolex.
