    Any plumbers? Strange water noises..

We have noticed that when nothings running (bath, dishwasher, taps, heating) we can clearly hearing water running through pipes - its around the kitchen sink. We have looked for any leaks (this has been suggested) but can’t see any on our property.

Any ideas why we are hearing this water running?

The water is coming fine out of the taps - no spluttering, reduced supply

If you can hear water moving then its moving, this is usually a leak some place, next time you hear it turn off the stop tap and see if the noise stops.

What sort of house? Water meter?

If you got a meter you can just turn every thing off in the house and watch the meter.

We had a similar experience and it was a fractured supply pipe under the drive.

I could hear it at night when I was in the bathroom and the rest of the house was quiet.

We lived in a 1920s arts and crafts house at the time, with a shared mains for the neighbouring four properties. The main spur came up my drive and then branched off. Was lead pipe.

I had a brand new stone set drive so extremely reluctant to have it dug up. After going through about four or five contractor visits, we got a guy who did the equivalent of key hole surgery on the drive and repaired it with only one set removed.

If you have something similar I hope you can track it easily.
