Been offered a BLNR, what to do?

At RRP. Realising how much in demand it is. What to do? I do love it but not sure I would keep it long term given it is a bit out there for me. Shall I take it and see how it works or just pass and let the next person go for It? Current collection includes a sub c and explorer 1...

If you don't like it you can flog it without loosing any money (in fact you are likely to make some) as such it's a no brainer
In fact I am sure you will have a number of PMs from people offering to buy it from you before the evening is out.

    Not impossible but tough.

It’s a no-brainer! Buy it, you may actually decide to keep it. If not I’m sure someone here will take it off you, as would many dealers. No risk whatsoever.

Just to offer an alternative viewpoint, maybe slightly radical but pass on it so that someone who actually wants one can buy it, maybe even someone from our TZ UK community.

Sit back and await a PM from someone offering to buy it from you for RRP +£500.

Ask the dealer to leave the stickers on, and remember to claim the Warranty card.

    Job's a good-un!

As other said, buy it and sell it on for a profit if you don’t gel with it.

You can offer it up on here too, I did something similar with a subC date a few months back

Let the next person have it. People are waiting in lists for these watches. My Daytona C White came in before Christmas and I passed on it as it wasn’t the right time to buy. Hopefully the next one will be mine as I have the cash now but it felt nice to let someone else in the queue have it.

Like others have said, a no brainer and virtually risk free - it might even grow on you and become a keeper.

Agreed but there’s every chance that the next in line will be hot footing it off to Watchfinder before you’ve hung up the phone!

    Thanks all. Food for thought...

Per the post above. I was never on the list for it ... walked into AD and it was just sat there - I am away at the moment not in UK. Guy is holding it for me until tomorrow whilst I decide. Apparently a one off as demand here is also insane.

Surprised he would even hold it for you if you just walked into store without wait list.

He's pointing out that it might not be the bargain the OP thinks it is if he needs to add 20% VAT on top of the asking price.

No and I couldn't give a monkeys chuff one way or the other. Just highlighting that if the guy buys this watch in the US or the Far East for example he will need to declare it and factor in another 20% to the cost.

Anyway, this a forum and the OP asked for comments so get back in your box.

Just seems that this forum is over-concerned about everyone else's VAT dealings. I can't figure out why, and I certainly don't think it's out of any concern for the guy who's watch it is.

I think with the 10,000 previous threads on the subject that everyone this side of the Kuiper belt knows already...

But the OP is from the other side. If he was from this side of the Kuiper belt he wouldn't have had to ask his original question.

I genuinely think people are trying to be helpful, if he brings the Watch in from outside the EU and honestly declares it there will be a 20% bill to pay - sorry, but that is the law here in the U.K.

If the buyer wants to wear the watch and enter into a bit of tax evasion or avoidance that is strictly his business.

I think it right for people to highlight this. We have seen on other threads, buying from Creation Watches in Singapore for example that some people do not realise that their bargain purchase may contain hidden extras.

Look, you're right, I'm not disagreeing but it seems to come up on nearly every thread.

However, any traveller knows that it's a very, very low risk.

It's no secret AD's charge RRP.

    I said tough not impossible.

If it was impossible then this thread wouldn't be here.

It might be low risk, but I wouldn’t risk it. Not so much the VAT man hassle if caught, it’s the extra attention you’ll get from then on, for every flight you take. As a frequent flier airports are a drag as it is.

You might not but thousands do. The rules on personal valuables on holiday make it a job that customs couldn't possibly hope to do effectively.

13 years ex-EU commuting every week or three and not once have I seen anyone asked about personal effects.

It's only on tz that people spack-out about it!

Well thanks for the comments. Surely I could buy such a rare piece and if not gel sell it for RRP or even more as per your comments above. But not here to make a profit. Happy with my current pieces so think I will pass. I am sure it will go in no time to someone who will cherish it.

It's a very noble statement, however it is less clear if the next buyer on the list will buy it to cherish it, or to flip it for profit.

As long as there are people with money willing to pay above list, there will be other people flipping for profit.
