I think I'm in love, advice please?

I've never owned a speedy and this one is up for auction and it REALLY takes my fancy, more so than any I have seen recently.
So what would I expect to pay for a 2013 model with B&P?
Is this a good buy or are there better models on the market?

If you like it go for it ,I can’t comment on price, but if your going to sell it in the future I think you may struggle as I don’t see it being very popular

Remember this, though. There used to be some Rolexes that no one wanted in the 70s or 80s and now they're selling like crazy.

Just because they might not be in demand today doesn't mean that in a few years things won't change.

If you like it and can afford it then go for it. If you're looking for an investment then it's a bit of a gamble but it might pay off later on.

I certainly like it. I would say that most people prefer the "pure" speedmasters strictly for historical/cultural reasons but this model shouldn't be disregarded at all.

Sorry, don't get me wrong, as someone who has bought 300 watches and sold 6 this is not a money making exercise for me, I just don't want to pay £5000 for £1,000 watch, estimate is around £1500 but is that way under the value or double the value, doesn't seem to be enough of these sold where prices are still listed to give me an idea of "market value"
A forum member said the other day "imagine the value of your collection had you bought more cleverly" or words to that effect.
Imagine how bored i would be only buying things that appreciate as opposed to watches I like to wear ??

Very good, that's the spirit, watches need to worn, not bought as an investment. That would be a very small boring collection anyway.

Looking at this one I certainly wouldn't buy it for resale ;)
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!

Great looking watch, column wheel chrono movement, I have seen it in the flesh and the bi-tone gold/steel works well...in the region of 3k is the right price I guess.

Refreshing to see someone pony up for a watch that they really love, rather than settle for a watch merely because it won’t depreciate.

    👍

A good reminder that our watch hobby is a passion, rather than a discounted cash flow exercise. I agree, it's a gorgeous piece (but, I'm normally attracted by the out-of-the-ordinary).

I do like those 50th anniversary editions but I’m not sure about the gold on it. I like the steel blue faced ones. For my 60th last year, I was treated to a Speedmaster ‘57 (1957 being my birth year). I got it with both the steel bracelet and leather deployant strap. It’s back with Omega being repaired at the moment lol.

Thanks for the feedback guys, the auction is on today, so I'm gonna go for it.
You are of course right that it is a hobby and we buy these things from passion, not from investment perspective.

Estimate £1500, sell price £3200 plus the 34% obligatory charges, so I walked away.
I bought a Corum Bubble GMT instead :)

£4288! Ouch! great watch, loving the red 1957... but that seems a bit rich but what do I know.

I know buyers premium was high but 34% is just plain daft.

It was never going to sell for £1500.
