    FM Radio

Remember when we had to buy DAB radios because pretty soon FM transmission was ceasing? Well, someone from the BBC (DG?) will say tomorrow that the way forward for radio is a mix of DAB/FM/Internet. So anyone still with FM receivers - you can continue listening

Sometimes my DAB signal is absolute pants

I can't help thinking that DAB is/was a technology cul de sac. The only thing that might keep it alive is the car (not in your case, obviously) but mobile data networks will eventually saturate everywhere.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

It was even more of a cul de sac in the UK because we went for the crapper version of DAB to start with.

I reckon millions of car drivers would be very upset if fm ceased. So many places, especially rural, where dab is non existent....

My FM tuner packed up a while back so I bought a cheap replacement from ebay and it works fine. I hardly use it but like to have it available. I took the trouble to check how much stuff is actually available on FM and was disappointed, very limited choice of music thesedays for the over 50s unless you like classical music.

Yep. Even in my 5 mile journey to work there are two points where DAB drops out for 20 seconds or so.

Spent about £500 on new DAB radios - complete waste of money.

Now I use an app on my IPad to listen. The only problem being that some sports broadcasts are prevented.

In the car I still have an AM/FM/LW radio. LW is a must for TMS.

Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

You've got to be kidding! Morning service when listening to overseas games, shipping forecasts for normal tests! 5 Live sports extra all the way!

Sadly my MX-5 only has LW which is why I hate the above! Unfortunately in the summer of course it's the car I'm in most of the time. Like anyone in this day and age who needs a shipping forecast listens to Radio 4 LW for it!!

    PS All in jest!

I've always said it would be a brave government that switches FM off. Never been impressed with DAB sound.

The problem we have is that the state broadcaster backed the wrong horse with DAB (and implemented it in a cack-handed way) and their dominance has meant everyone else has followed them into the ditch.

Bought a DAB+/FM/Bluetooth radio for my daughter's 8th birthday, I'm an old radio pirate and wouldn't buy a radio without FM, which was my luck, DAB+ my arse, I'm in one of the most densely populated areas in the world and reception is still shite!

FM with radiotext it is for my little girl.
Got a new watch, divers watch it is, had to drown the bastard to get it!
