Very nice, a lovely depth to the blue in that picture.

Thanks Matt :-) it can be tricky. I find that whenever the watch looks most amazing it doesn't come across on my phone camera view. Grand Seiko are definitely a brand that doesn't come across any where near as well in online images as in real life. I prefer that to watches that have disappointed once I get to see one after being stunned by the photos ;-)

This watch really surprised me in real life. Most pictures make it look a garish bright blue, which it isn’t, and highlight the quartz logos and GMT numbers brightly too, but in real life the logos are invisible unless they catch the light like a subtle sunburst. There are a huge range of effects, but you only see one at a time, whereas in photos you tend to see everything happening at one, like when you start a car and everything on the dashboard lights up - it’s very misleading as the watch is way more subtle and sophisticated. The second photo on the white background really makes that point and is one of the best I’ve seen.

Due to the launch photos I completely overlooked this model, and was very surprised when I tried one and found it was my favourite 9F. Or almost my favourite - I ended up getting the green dialled 25th anniversary version, which also changes colour constantly, sometimes turning jet black.

Beautiful. I think Grand Seikos are the business, and if my finances were up to it that's the type of watch I'd have on my wrist.

Popped the GS on a strap this morning and i think the colour suits it rather well. It does however highlight this issue someone else mentioned in another thread about the low positioning of the spring bars in the lugs. With this relatively lightly padded strap it doesn't look 100% right.

Still loving this GS and so taken with it i would like to venture further into the GS range with either a spring drive or auto......lets see what comes up or if anyone responds to my WTB!

    Cheers

Might have been me on the SBGJ001 hibeat gmt

Hurts a bit spending £500+ on a GS deployant and alligator Hirsch strap only to find it's not *quite* right.

That’s right it was! I remember your final comment about sticking it on, was it your father in laws £100 Seiko (or something very similar)

I’m having a strap made for mine and I sent the chap an email and some pictures that show the ‘problem’ in the hope that the low position can be compensated for in the making of the new strap......fingers crossed!

    Cheers

Beautiful and last real Astron. These came out about 10 years ago. Had the opportunity to handle and buy it then. Could not justify paying 5000USD when I could get Spring Drive GS (More special to me) watches for similar money.

In my opinion, Grand Seiko pulled off a superb, unbeatable design with the SBGH267 dial.

I think the SBGM235 come a close second to the SBGH267.

I nearly bought one of these new as my first GS, but stupidly waited and they all sold out. Now I feel like people are rubbing it in every time they post a picture of it. It's definitely becoming my grail / white whale depending on how you want to look at it. I'm still not certain it's a watch I could really wear all that often, but it really is stunning in every respect.

I know an AD that still has one of these! A mom and pop place in Chiang Mai that hardly anyone visits - the amount of rare Zimbes I've found there is incredible and they discount 20% off RRP as standard. Still have a BNIB SLA017 too!!! No Vat refund though.

Managed to land a SBGR095 there earlier this year that RocketMan is haunting me for and has first dibs on!

    Thanks for the comment.

It's a composite of eight different pictures, all focused at different points of the dial, then photo-stacked in Photoshop.

Wearing my boring old Snowflake today - it’s had a fair bit of use and wear/tear over the past two years, and if anything I think it looks better and better as time goes by.

It’s really phenomenally accurate, too - currently running at +1 second per MONTH when kept wound and worn in rotation. Very impressive indeed.

    Anyway, unexciting photos follow.
