    Rolex vintage, opinions please

A frind of mine has this:

He has asked me to take care of it. It is a 1030 caliber from 1957.

I asked the cost of servicing: 8000 swiss francs. And no, I did not add a zero by mistake. So it is not repairable... Although so far it tics...

How much should I give him? I think that no more than 1500 euros...

What are your views? Am I being a fool or am I abusing my friend?

PS: how poor the pics are! Any idea how to increase quality after the photobucket debacle and the tapatalk debacle?

May I ask who has quoted CHF8000? I can't help thinking that an independent could help you remove a zero and then half that number. What's wrong with it?
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Rolex. And I cannot see anything wrong, apart from a tough life in Cuba and Spain.
I can decide not to service it. I was expecting a quote in the 500 euros area, and I was really shocked by the 8000 CHF quote (literally I burst into a nervous laughter!).

I assume that the CHF quote means that it's going back to Geneva; regardless of which it's a ridiculous price. Have you thought about sending it to one of the forum favourites - we have enough Rolex-accredited independents around? Or perhaps contact somebody like Mike Wood for advice.

What's the reference between the lugs?

80000 something, that locates the watch in 1957...
