I understand that the new strap is courtesy of Eddie? Many thanks to the boss man if so.

I'm incredibly late to the party here but I'll be in Paris beginning of next month, Cyprus last week of November, Hamburg in January, Dubai next March and Las Vegas next April, with a strong possibility of trips to Zurich and Milan before Xmas. Don't ask. And I spend most of my time at home in the South of France or Cambridge, so feel free to take your pick.

Fortunately happened to be at Eddies and he (as usual) was only too pleased to help us.

Unfortunately for me I managed to leave my iPad in Cyprus, it has a few good pictures on it so until that arrives back with me I only have phone pictures to review and upload, anyway first up I would like to thank pilot Charlie Manning of Jet2.com for loading us into the FMS for the return journey back to the UK, and a most enjoyable time on the flight deck...

The watch wears a bit big on the ancient limb of this Pinus Nigra...

Not as high as some of its previous locations but without getting arrested by the military this was as far up as I dared go...

    Updated website at last.

Watch currently covered over 55,000 miles over 14 countries in the hands of 13 people.

Next adventure is Madagascar then a cruise to Cambodia / Malaysia.

Matthew's sister got married on the weekend and it was proudly worn by her husband Stephen :)

Today marks 12 months since Matthew's passing.
The project rolls on in his memory and I'm proud to be part of it.

    As my words are insufficient, I'll instead borrow these from my cousin;

    "December 8, 2017
At 21.41 on Wednesday I had the absolute privilege of being at your side while you took your final breath and left us to go on your greatest adventure yet. And there was no more pain, and no more fear. Only a room full of love and your angry ginger cat with its worryingly human face fiercely guarding you at the foot of your bed.
I'm so glad that you don't have to fight any more. My God you fought!
You had such big dreams and you were always so sad that you couldn't achieve the things you had always hoped to.
They say that life is what happens when you're making other plans, and although your plans didn't quite come together as you had hoped, in your 28 years you have achieved so much more. Your quiet acts of kindness, your selflessness and dignity in the face of the worst adversity, the way that you would always turn a question of "how are you?" around to the asker so that you didn't have to tell them how you REALLY were. You cared so much about other people. Your heart was just massive (I hate saying WAS!!) my heart is broken into a million pieces, but I will dust myself off and I will put them back together because I will not waste a moment. None of us should waste a moment.
I don't think that you ever really knew how amazing you were in this life, I can only hope that you do now.
I love you so much brother. I will teach my children to be brave and kind and gracious just like their Matthew. I know that you are up there somewhere beautiful, and that you are running through fields with zero pain and your lungs full of breath.
I'll see you in the upside down my love xx #inomniaparatus"

    Rest in Peace Matthew.

Fine words from your cousin there.

The watch should be back from Madagascar this week, I'll make sure it gets back to you ASAP.

The watch has arrived in a miserable, sleety Berlin in preparation for its next trip.

The first Berlin social engagement was yesterday evening at the German premiere of the new Saiorse Ronan film, Mary Queen of Scots, at the Kino International.

Miss Ronan attended for a brief Q&A session before the screening (and then left - something I sort of wish I had done after about 5 minutes)

I only found out afterwards that the second star on the stage was Maria Dragus and not Margot Robbie (who plays Elizabeth I). Apologies for the poorly lit mobile phone shots.

The venue itself is quite interesting, from both an architectural and historical perspective.

    And some inflight reading

A few pictures from downtown Erbil.

    The Grand Bazar

    From the Citadel

    In the Citadel

    Of the Citadel

And a nice cup of tea nearer the end of the day.

I had a vague aspiration to sneak the watch over the border into North Eastern Syria on somebody's wrist but unfortunately everybody was in Erbil attending the same meeting I was and, if it had gone, I couldn't have gotten it back in time for my return.

    Great work Mr. CB!

I'm going to update the website once I have ushered my childerbeasts into bed.

Thanks to a member here, 200+mph in a car is looking likely and tonight I think (hope) that I've secured it's passage to the top of the world. It should be on Everest by March :)

Just to update the thread, (because I'm rubbish at it!)

The watch is currently in Iraq courtesy of Carlton-Browne.

So far, it has traveled 76,882 miles, across 26 countries in the hands of 17 amazing people.

Coming up, we've got a 200 mph+ trip in a koenigsegg thanks to member Siysiy.
Before that it's now been confirmed that it is going to the summit of Everest in the capable hands of a six time summiteer.

All in all, not a bad start to 2019!
Now these two goals look to have been achieved, I call once again on the TZ massive for help. As it's going as high as can be, I'd like to get it as low as possible. Does anyone know any submariners?!?

I have speaking to Raplhy about a diving trip too so hopefully we can pull that off.

I'd like to thank everyone who has been involved so far. It's been amazing!

One last favour too. Could anyone who is on facebook like the page please? I'm trying to spread the word and it would help to have a wider audience. I post infrequently so it won't fill your news feed with daily crap, just updates on what the watch is doing. If you like it, it will show up on your friend's feeds etc...

    https://www.facebook.com/thetaketimeproject/

Thanks in advance and here's to a great 2019!

    A truly worthy project Dave.

I'm in Oz and would be honoured to take the watch for a dive or two!

    In motion:

    Nearer the destination

And then we had a few days in a snowy, slushy downtown Belgrade.

    The National Assembly.

Stari Dvor or the Old Palace

As part of the trip the watch managed to successfully navigate its way out of an escape room.

But we're back in Berlin now and this afternoon it helped me safely navigate lunch.

    Where's it going next?

    Afternoon all.
Sorting through some Take Time stuff today.

Watch still with CB and will be headed back to Blighty next week. There's still a few weeks until it's needed for the Everest climb so does anyone have anything cool planned in the near future?

    Don't be shy!!!

    Evening TakeTimers,

Got a few more things in the pipe line for our little watch so I've decided to extend it's travels.

Originally, I had suggested that the watch be auctioned off in June this year but I'm keen that it experiences as much as possible so it'll run until it can't run no more!

Shame I didn't pick up on this thread earlier, and unfortunately probably after the close date you intended, but on the off chance...

I am off to Japan on the 10th June, and one of the side trips I was thinking of going to was the Seiko museum in Tokyo. (As well as the Seiko boutique).

I'll be returning on the 25th June.

I know I am relatively new here and don't really have any feedback, but my brother (WillS) has been on here a while if that reassures anyone (and judging by the watches he has bought here should have decent h&v feedback)

On this note about the 'end date'. It was chosen as it would have been Matthew's birthday. However, in speaking to his family, I'm going to extend the project. There are a few 'big ticket' items I want to cross off the list and these take time. Everest on it's own will take it out of circulation for a couple of months. I'd rather auction it off when the adventures are completed, not because of the significance of a particular date. So... onward it goes!

Thank you very much. That's excellent value for a tropic strap, and it suits the Turtle rather well.

Honor to be part of TZ-forum

    Hello TZ members,

I had pleasure to be part of the group of forum members who went to Glashütte last week.
Really enjoyed the fantastic trip and even more the really nice & interesting people I met. Thanks to you Alan to invite me and Ralf as the door opener to A. Lange.
Learned a lot about watchmaking on our tours at the manufacturers, could see some really amazing and rare watches from various collections.
But most of it I liked talking with the guys about our passion for watches (vintage&contemporary). I´m a vintage guy with broad interest (technical & aestetic) for watches from 1920-1970, some special interest in Universal Geneve, Longines and other brands.

Alan told me the very sad story about Matthew and the great idea to send the Seiko all over to interesting places and to keep memory alive.
I had the honor to have the watch on my wrist at Dresden lunch.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    Best regards
    Georg
