Well just got the call from the dealer...

Sub C Date available for me to take.
Quite difficult to get around here, I haven't been waiting too long but no having second thoughts...with the Basel fair around the corner is it a mistake to take the Sub at this point not knowing what the future holds, with strong rumours of changes!?

    Look forward to some views.

Thanks for letting us know, I'll be keeping a close eye on the thread.

It's the watch you wanted - no?

But - seems you don't want it too much now?

    Walk away.

Get your name on the list in a couple of months.

Hand-holding will still be available then.

I'd wait, there might be something better after Basel.

If it's a watch that you like and want to wear I can't really think of any reason not to buy it.

I was in this position at Christmas.

AD in London sourced me a SubC Date and I had been on waiting list for a few months.

I decided to pass as I am looking at picking one around April for a birthday.

I guess the issue is that even if there is a small change at Basel (and let's face it, it will only ever be small!) then this will not filter through for many months, and more waiting lists...

I think I will go for it!

Better but unavailable? There's the problem!

Guy at my AD said (with slightly odd lack of precision) that they had had "1 or 2" SD43s and "1 or 2" 116500s. That's sufficiently low to make the chances of getting one (at list) all but impossible for mere mortals without good contacts and/or an impressive purchase history.

I’d leave it....the new sub will be far far superior. In fact it’ll make the existing models almost worthless.

After Basal I’m exepecting to pick up old model subs, brand new with papers and everything for no more than £500. Might even get BOGOF deal.

My AD has already said he’ll be begging me to take them off his hands, so he doesn’t have to scrap them.

Isn't there yet another price rise imminent? Buy it now, flog it for profit in a few months' time

    ↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑...what he said...↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑

But seriously go for it. Its a great watch and if you change your mind in the future you won't lose much (if anything)

Thank you for the helpful advice. This is my logic right now. If I take it and change my mind in a year, as I am getting at RRP, hoping I will not lose more than £1k which I can live with!

Congrats - i think you did the right thing!

If a new model gets launched at Baselworld, and you were able to get hold off one from the dealer quickly, and the price wasn't too different from the current model rrp then you might have wished you had waited, but what are the chances of that.

Well that's what i tell myself having picked up the same watch as you last month...

Thanks all. So far feels like I have made the correct decision. And all your comments certainly help!

Yes stickers now all off and being worn since I walked out of the AD. Plan is to wear it daily!

if you fancy the new one from Basel (if there is going to be one) surely the AD will bump you up the list having just purchased a watch from them, then flog the sub date you just got.

Good choice to buy now. I have had to pass on watches only to later regret it.
When I was looking for a SubC ND, I got two calls from two different AD’s over one weekend, ended up buying both! One was sold on after I got a Hulk.

If a new watch is unveiled at Basel, you still have a superb watch and shouldn’t be disappointed

Congrats on the new watch. You definitely made the right decision and bought it.

Even if a new SubC is unveiled at Basel, which is unlikely, it will be more expensive and almost impossible to find. The current SubC is almost perfect.

Bought my first sub in 2003 for retail, just had it's second service and given it to my 20 yr old son ....

..... valued at twice what I paid.

Point being, enjoy the watch, wear it every day (I did), clean it, service it and keep box and papers - investment imho

I've just bought YMII and taking delivery of a Hulk next month.

Well done you, it's a beautiful watch is the sub - enjoy !!20180107_172104.jpg

Get the watch. If something cool like a New steel gmt comes, the waiting lists will be +5 years anyway
