Is this a 36mm case, Eddie? Also, would the 16mm rivet bracelet have an adjustable clasp?

I'm waiting for confirmation on the clasp and yes, it's 36mm.

Oh no - black and white dial versions!

Its the PRS29 dilemma all over again, Im going to have to buy both in order to decide which one I prefer.

    Nice problem to have.

  6. #556
I hope you can forgive the question but is their a confirmed price for the 36mm?

Dang, that looks good! Blued hands as well. That means it's totally different to my black dial, so it'd be fine to have both, right?

Wow! And when can we expect this gorgeous creme dial blue-handed wonder to be available?

  11. #561
Great ! 16mm tapering riveted bracelet with shorter clasp also for the black dial !

Again Eddie, please is possible to have the Smith logo on the crown ? It could give a definitevely refined look to this beautiful 36mm watch !

Great Idea! But i am afraid that the dial will be to colourful:

    White / cream dial
    black indices
    C3 numbers
    blue hands

Maybe it's better to give the luminous numbers and triangle a miss and print them in black just as the AM. What do you think Eddie?

I think this would look better with a white dial and not a cream one. An original white dialled Explorer (6610) looked like this:

    PRS25 on Leather

Got mine on a Pav leather which arrived today, as a smudger I'm loving the bold smiths font on the black ink dial - its a lot of watch for the money, lovely.

    It looks lovely on leather.

Eddie stated that it'll be he same colour as the AM, so it will be white, changing to a slightly creamy colour in certain lighting. Nothing like the very creamy yellow rendering though. Perfect.

  17. #567
Starting to think white is the way to go, I always had in my head a black dial but maybe not.

I have had a few Alpha 14270 homages with white dials and they attracted favourable comments even from non watch types

The 1016 styled white dial Everest will look way better than this I think

    I think a pale-dialled version looks fantastic.
The most difficult thing will be the balance of black print round the lume plots.
Too much will look heavy, too little will reduce the differentiation between plot and dial in daylight.
Interesting that the Rolex dial above has lume on all indices, and the Everest design only on the quarters.
I think I would be tempted to look at lume on all indices, to avoid the heaviness of plainn black indices.

For the benefit of people who don't normally look at SC, there's a completely unworn one being offered to spare Eddie faffing about with a return.

I think there's a little too much black in the latest render for me. I'm not sure if it's the thick black markers at the 5min marks, or the black surrounding the luminous 3/6/9/12. I wonder how it would look if the 3/6/9/12 didn't have a black border?

Here is a close up of my old Excelsior Park Monte Carlo, which I count as being the most successful dial I have ever seen with lume on a pale dial (white, not cream-ish in this case)

The black outline, slightly serifed, really made that lume pop out of the dial.
Not very wide, but wide enough to make it work, I believe this dial got that detail perfectly right.

If the bracelet is to taper to 16mm, it can't have the new clasp. Thoughts?

Pragmatic over the aesthetic imo, 18mm taper and the new improved clasp.

With the rivet bracelet, taper to 16mm and the old clasp feels like it fits the aesthetic better. I'd go aesthetic over function on this one.

Would have authenticitists unhappy with the sapphire crystal, and pragmatists unhappy with the clasp.

I agree, vintage aesthetic prefers a greater taper to a smaller clasp (16mm), and this would definitely win over the slight functional addition of a variable clasp. I also think the variable clasp will look a little too thick (upwards from the wrist) for this smaller watch.

Keep the 16mm taper, anyone who appreciates the rivetted bracelet won't be bothered about the new clasp.

Agreed! Taper would weigh heavier than the easily adjustable clasp. I also vastly prefer a slim clasp..

I had a play around with the dial, after a suggestion from a few posts above by Gav.

    ALL LUME

    BLACK NUMBERS

    TRIANGLE LUME

    ALL BLACK –- LUME HANDS

NO LUME – gives it an older feel and shows more of those lovely blue hands

100% first version full lume is the way to go .Best version by a mile to my eyes. Full lume numbers/markers works fine for me on my two most frequently worn watches

Me too, though I'd prefer to see something more in line with the 114270 i.e. thicker 5 min markers as well as (very) fractionally thicker deliniation of the Arabic numerals and inverted triangle.

My preference, for what it's worth would be the new clasp and a 20/18 taper, l find a 4mm taper too much, and a 2mm taper more balanced.

Eddie, I would prefer bracelt tapering to 16, and what about an "old" style plain clasp as well, like the one on the Meraud watch, with Smiths engraved and that perfectly match the spirit of this Everest ?

Not too bothered re the bracelet as I prefer a strap but would be more likely to wear one with a 16mm taper

All black lume hands gets my vote, although it is close with the other black numeral model.

I don't like the lume numerals, I think it looks odd.

Also agree 16mm is the way to go for the clasp.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
