Just goes to show that TZUK hasn't changed with time. Back bitting was an original feature!

I was trying to be helpful actually. The original thread had quite a lot of detail. If you can’t be constructive yourself, jog on

    You mean 264 Signals squadron?
So far as I know, there is no special air service unit with the designation 264 and there never has been.
Referring to 264 as an SAS unit is misleading.

The correct designation is 264 (SAS) Signal Squadron

Apparently, there has been 463,298 serving members of the SAS.
Wasn't like that when I was in...

I was in the LRDG, before the SAS got popular and sold out! ;)

I used to fence with a bloke who said he was a cook in the army, so I reckon he's the only SF bloke I've ever met!

No I didn’t but neither did 264 sigs and that doesn’t stop them claiming to be sas!

    Hat.
So a signals bloke (of all people) uses a parachute regiment term to insult someone for not having done something that they themselves have not done......
Considering that the term "hat" refers to someone who wears a peaked cap on parade rather than having earned the right to wear a beret of certain colours, it's inaccurately directed anyway.
All in all, a pretty unsuccessful post.

I must be one of the few on here who was actually at Sennybridge during summer selection.

I was in the Army Cadets though, we happened to be having our summer camp at the same time as selection :-)

Dropping in words that some of us who served will know to show that you know, doesn’t impress.

There was no right to wear a beret or a cap badge when I wore the green suit. Everything seemed to be deemed a privilege!

The best squaddies were always the modest and unassuming ones.

    Beat me to it

Surely if you wear a watch with the SAS wings on, that’s clearly a regular watch commissioned for said steely eyed dealers of radios, you might risk an awkward conversation?

Everyone’s ones elite or special forces these days.

Forces TV had a couple of RAF regiment chaps on an American military shoot em up challenge programme the other day.
Even they where referred to as special forces.

Personally it was the cooks and storemen I had most bother with, a ladle over the knuckles hurt like hell.

Astonishingly, that's the exact same number of people who claim to have seen the Sex Pistols at the Free Trade Hall, Manchester on the fourth of June, 1976.

Anybody remember the Joint Services Parachute Centre, Netheravon? Used to work there as a "civvie" in the early 70's. Used to get some *interesting" visitors now and again.
