Thread: AD freebies, what have you got?

AD freebies, what have you got?

Having bought many a watch over the years mostly from London and south eastern ADs, it wasn’t until I bought a watch at a Heathrow airport AD last week that I realised I’ve never been given any goodies whilst buying a watch. I’ve asked many a times and always got looked at like a weirdo and never got anything apart from the Rolex transport coffins. To my amazement, having not even bought a Rolex at Heathrow, I was given two Rolex baseball caps like it was nothing. Very pleasantly surprised. So what is the situation regarding branded freebies from your AD?

Usually the Ad has to buy the "freebies" from the supplier

Nothing high value: green Rolex pouch/wallet and tiny Rolex & AD name branded decorative spoons from one AD, generic watch wallet from another Rolex AD, Omega watch case from one AD. All when first time customer at those shops.

    A few bits:

    - Rolex gloves
    - Rolex pen in presentation case
    - Bremont hat
    - Zenith leather holdall (really nice)
    - Zenith figure of that Felix B.
    - Omega black leather wallet
    - Various Omega canvas'
    - Omega screwdrivers
    - Omega leather watch holder tray thing
    - Rolex/Omega magazines
    - Hublot coaster set

That's all i can think of off the top of my head.

Anyone buying a Daytona gets a free 3 or 4 grand

Seriously though, wallets, key rings, books but best was a free service when I bought my BLNR.

As a matter of interest, for those who received a promise of free services, how were they recorded? A shop voucher or a manufacturer voucher?

I received a letter from the AD, stating that I could have any Rolex watch that I want serviced for no charge.
    So no voucher.

    Thanks.

Well, I suppose the letter would in effect be a voucher if there was any doubt.

This Christmas, I got a very nice silk tie and my wife got a lovely silk scarf from our Rolex AD. They were greatly appreciated.

    From memory

    PP wallet
    AP wallet
    AP key ring
    AP loupe
    AP chocolates
AP hot choclate set inc AP mug
    AP travel watch travel case
    AP strap pouch

Funnily I’ve only purchased one AP and PP and was gifted the above however after countless Rolex purchases the best was £100 off a Daytona and a empty promise of taking me to the Silverstone GP which an invited never showed up!

I was given a very nice carbon effect/padded leather Hublot watch tray (the ones they bring out when you try something on) when I bought a new watch at the boutique in Las Vegas. I asked if it was possible to buy one and the sales guy just put it in the bag with the watch!

    AD freebies

If it is an actual Rolex service centre full service, then that is a good add on but if it is just some AD’s own workshop with the “fully Rolex trained technician “ having a hack at it, not worth shit.

I disagree. What difference does it make if the watchmaker sits in London or Glasgow, Newcastle or wherever ?
They all get the same training, offer the same service and offer the same Rolex warranty afterwards ?
Anything that can’t be done away from HQ they will admit to and send off, rather than having a hack at it.

Chisholm Hunter supposedly have an army of fully Rolex trained watchmakers in there workshops, would not trust them to service my toaster nevermind a Rolex.

I got a free packet of Haribo when I bought an Alpina from a German AD. The kids were pleased.

    Caps
    Cufflinks

    Scatola watch tool kit

    Watch travel case
Free service (Patek Boutique). No letter, just told to bring the watch to an Boutique with proof of ID or the paperwork and they would arrange it.
It's just a matter of time...

Breitling winged steel clasped lapel badge, having hammered the sales guy into submission in the Bond St. boutique after buying a ProIII rubber strap. The only other was a black Fortis baseball cap that was handed to me as I was about to walk out of the door with my B42 Official Cosmonauts chrono. All my other watch related 'tat' was purchased from dealers at disproportionate prices, but this addiction makes you do daft things in 'watchworld' does it not?

    Wow!

That is one expensive shoe horn but at least it will last longer than the loafers.

    Gucci loafers, loved the 80's.

    80's

You will be happy to know the Hoff.still wears them!

It is said that fashion is cyclical, so keep them BNIB for another 4 years and who knows, maybe they will make a comeback.

    Every Saturday

Every Saturday nightout. That way the ladies know i am a man of style and substance.

Nothing says class quite like a Rolex baseball cap and put on the Rolex tie and cufflinks, their knickers fall off.
