My friend Adam just dug this up in his back yard -
Is it a half penny?? We really have no clue.
Your help identifying it would be greatly appreciated. ;)

Give it a gentle scrub with an old toothbrush. Should clean it up a little more.
I would hazard a guess at a George 3rd half penny late 1700's ish.

Leaving it sitting in HP brown sauce for a while will clean it up a bit.
Like Thorpey I immediately though George III too.
Nice find for your mate Senraw, in the ground all that time!
Cheers,
Neil.
Treasure trove!
My guess: George III copper halfpenny, 3rd issue, 1799.
It is George III.

It is one if the very few from that period that I would be able to identify. It's fairly distinctive with the DEI directly above the head and, in my experience anyhow, the third issue is the most commonly found today. I'm reasonably sure I have a couple somewhere from my coin collecting days, decades ago.
The cleaning method I use on these when I dig them is to soak them in distilled water for a few days and just gently with a toothpick clean the surface, soaking it in sauces,or scrubbing it will lose any detail you have...
once clean I use a clear bees wax to keep them preserved.
I have some fairly low value Roman coins tucked away that I have had sitting in olive oil in a clingfilmed ramekin for the last 12 months, must have a look sometime to see how they are getting on.
