I’d like to add one of these to the collection this year ,some you see on jubilee bracelet and some on oyster.when they were new did you have an option,which one you wanted or does it depend on which model you picked.
I’ve read many people stating the jubilees aren’t has good and wear quicker but I think they look better.

The easy cop out is to do what I did and buy a 16710 GMT11.
You can fit a plain black or a black/red or a red/blue bezel and still be original.
Also you can wear either an Oyster or Jubilee bracelet, so the world is your Lobster as Arthur would have said.
However when I wore the 16710 with its black/blue bezel with the Jubilee bracelet combination, some old chap who looked to be approaching his eighties came up to me, congratulated me on wearing the GMT and then promptly advised me that it looked a tad vulgar.
You just can't win.
Was the 1675 available with anything other than matt dial? I have one from last year of production.

It is a secret code that to the inner circle means black/red. That's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
No as 16750 came after 1675 and was matt Dial too, but think they transitioned to gloss dial white gold markers on the 16750 so had both matt and gloss

The 16750 had the matt dial originally but with the advantage of the quickset date function which as is a Godsend so a great vintage look with a bit of practicality.
I don't have a 16750 but acquired a 1675 from Verv and they really are lovely pieces but so light in comparison to modern stuff.
The OP shouldn't jump in but enjoy the search.
I took the view that it was a safer bet buying from someone who knows considerably more about these things than me.
Box and papers 1675 gilts will be £15k plus depending on condition

I was very tempted with this 16750 coke - I think it was from 1989. Loved the open 6 & 9 and the satin dial. I spent ages trying to find out about the dial (being neither gloss or matte) but gave up in the end and it has since sold. I still kick myself but I couldn't bring myself to part with the money without being able to authenticate it!

My only advice is to take your time. Yes they appear to have shot up in price but for me the journey is part of the fun. Box n papers is gonna make it more expensive for sure but that's your call if that's important. Bracelet is again your call - personally I an not a fan if jubilee but just my view

Mike Woods is a beauty but this is better, same age as Mikes but hardly ever worn and comes on the original very rare 6636 rivet bracelet which looks as new. Took me ages to realise the bezel auto lock still worked as the bezel wouldnt rotate, never seen this before. These are rocketing in price so the best thing to do if you find a good one, buy it.

Quite correct. Early 16750 were matt (approx first 3 years - 1979 - 1982/3) then came the gloss dial.
The 16750 was the transition model (with quickset date), and was replaced by the 16700.
These are known as GMT's (Pepsi's) and should not be confused with the GMT 2 (Cokes). Both models were also available with all black Bezels which I suppose makes them Guinness

I absolutely adore these vintage GMT’s. I couldn’t stretch so the next best was a last of the T<25’s which should age nicely as the years roll on.
Had mine out in the wild today.

I too love these but it’s a minefield and prices are shooting up! I just played it safe and went with the BLNR in the end. Because of the pitfalls and costs of vintage my perfect watch would be the BLRO in steel and therefore actually affordable.

I see 'gilt dial' mentioned, and have just done a search for information - but all the sites I have checked, assume you know what it is!
Is it a dial where the lume is on top of gilt, with a tiny ring of the gilt showing? (All I can see from web photos).
I have a late 1675 (1980) which I would say has only had one polish, service hands and a service bezel - by Rolex several years ago.
(Oh! and a new bracelet for the princely sum of .......... £17. From the fairly recent past, when Rolex didn't make every penny out of a service/repair. Think the bracelet retailed at £300 at the time)

Gilt dials are the first GMT and Subs where the dial is a glossy black but with gold printing, the first ones in late 50's had a gold outer chapter ring, later versions to mid 1960's dropped the ring for individual minute markers. From 1966 they transitioned to Matt dials with white printing.

Remember my mate buying a GMT Pepsi in the early 80's for something like £650 new! he offered it to me for £400 a year later but declined as just couldn't justify spending that sum on a watch!
Mine was approx £550 in UK in 1980 (I paid a massive £208 tax-free, with a further £18 or so -in duty).
