I will be interested to see how you do.
I am looking at an 8500 PO, the non-magnetic hairspring and hour hacking are genuinely useful innovations, although I am not seeing many for £2k.
To be honest though I have been looking at the Ti versions, which are more.
I have an ETA Pelagos and love it. But no crystal caseback available. And distinctly non-bling compared to the PO.
and for my money, the Doxa doesn;t even get close to the PO for style and design. It is a brick by comparison. A nice one, but it is functionally, not aesthetically designed.
    Good luck
    D

EDIT - just out of interest, I just looked, this is not far from budget, and in the UK. No connection with seller etc

Might be the wrong colour for you, but I still have mine. 2012 bought from a UK AD. Serviced by Omega in November, so 22 months Omega Warranty left to run....

    Good luck.
Thats a good find thank you. However I need a high street shop I can walk into, I'll contact those people and see if I can try it on in their London shop.

The sheer usefulness, the classic simple face design and the blingy see through back door.

I've transferred another 600 to the watch fund so now I'm looking at a 2.6k ish.
    Hopefully this should be enough.

I would be another vote for the 2500 42mm Planet Ocean / black bezel. I have one and won't be selling it anytime soon. My one reservation is the OP's intention to wear this at all times and in every situation without needing to care/worry about it. I'm not sure that a heavily worn PO would look that great. A well worn Speedmaster or even a Bond Seamaster may be perfectly fine but I just don't see a PO as aesthetically suited to the 'tool watch' look. With this in mind I would tend towards looking for a SuperOcean Steelfish XL, the original 44mm version - I'm too lazy to go and check the model ref on mine - it's the white/silver dial version with the box secs hand. Looks fine well worn on a Breitling brown calf.

I would consider the PO (personally love this watch)or just standard black Seamaster 300M. As Tom mentions above PO is quiet large on the wrist so less of an everyday watch. The 300M has a ceramic bezel and is great value for money and being slightly slimmer more suited for everyday wear.

    Hope that helps,

    Matt

I have the PO XL, a great watch but for some reason never wear it (probably a dozen times in the 4 years I've owned it)
May have to fish it out of the box!
Apologies for the poor pic, old one!

I have a PO 45.5 and whilst it is a bit big, I feel it wears well.

I did put it in a nato to try, but our it felt properly unbalanced.

It's great on its bracelet or a good strap.

If you were to choose between the black bezel 42mm P.O. 2500 and the Black bond SMPc what are the key advantages of each?

The guidance I have received along the course of this tread has been priceless.

    Initially, I thought I wanted a 17330 yellow Breitling.
Then a Sinn ,a Tudor and eventually an Omega PO 8500 black and white.

I tried one on and it felt right straight away.

Then I thought I'd be paying 2.9K ish from a reputable high street retailer.

I ended up buying from here at significantly less than that. After a number of PM's from different people helping me make the right choice.

    Thanks again.

    PaulM.

I'm sure everyone knows what a PO 8500 looks like but if you insist I'll sort one or two out for you.

I am sure we do, but photos break up the text and provide a lot of interest.
We all like them, even if not all of us are Jocke, Tony or fractionally as talented.

Photobucket no longer works for posting pics on forums unless you pay them😕
You could try postimage.org which is very easy to use.
Looking forward to seeing the pic (I too have a 8500 P.O., great watches).

    New watch.

I had a planet ocean 8500 42mm and they are a lovely watch but I would try one on as they are thick and heavy. If you plan to wear with a shirt they may not go under your cuff.

Finally fished it out, don't know why I don't give it any wrist time as it's a great watch and I love the movement on view (work of art in my view)
Promised it my Son when he's done at Uni so may be scared of damaging it subconsciously and that's why I have tucked in in box![IMG]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180113
