These all look exceedingly refreshing. Just right for the pleasantly warm weather we've been enjoying lately.

Tollgate Ashby pale. Very local brewery to me. Very nice light, refreshing drink that hides its 4.9% well

They are very naughty, these beers that conceal their strength. This little tinker I'm having right now is such an ale . . .

It's a dark night and I'm in a dark mood after the Toon were stuffed by Brighton, so dark beer needed . . .

    Still local-ish
And very nice it is too, an easy going stout with an instant chocolate hit.

Had these last Sunday , had pint of Dots & Hops Sim Specs , nice fruity hazy pale 5.5%
    in Jim’s where son works.

Then had these when back home

The Brid brewery one slightly citrusy amber ale and the Northern Monk one showing the mango precipitating out which has apparently happened with some batches, though didn’t affect the taste, still really good

Popped into my local Tesco Extra for my flu jab this morning and did a little food shop whilst there. Pleased I did as one of my favourite pale ales was on offer, the Shipyard American Pale Ale. It's usually £11 for 10x440ml cans, I normally buy a couple of cases when it's reduced to £9. Today they had 3 cases in one of the end of aisle stacks for £7.20 a case, looks like the cardboard containers got damp a little. It would have been rude not to!

Opened the front door this morning to find a box of local favourites on the doorstep, courtesy of one of my best mates who I've not seen since the start of the year. Completely unexpected, and just what the doctor ordered. What a star.

Fire and Rescue, say no more! ;-) I just looked up the brewery, they have an impressive range and free local delivery. I think I'll be trying some if their wider delivery charges aren't too bad. £25 for a case of 12x500ml, and they do 10 litre bag in boxes for £30, and even better for 20 litre boxes for £50. Just the thing when the garage temperature is ok in the winter.

Don’t normally drink on a Tuesday night, but seeing as I’ve had to cancel my 2 weeks leave due to a dog with a back problem, not had a decent nights sleep in a month, lost any hope of a calm, relaxing break by the Cornish seaside, and several grand in the process, a couple of ales seems not unreasonable.

Honestly, in this case, a £1.50 bottle of beer has as much effect as a fart in a hurricane.

All these overly hopped, hipster beers are nice. But I’m going to make a bold claim and state that this brewery, making traditional northern beer, is better....

If you ever to the east of Manchester and see Millstone on cask just buy it. I stocked up today...

With respect, I think there’s a place for all. The joy of beer is that there is so much fantastic variety in the UK now, most of it from smaller breweries. It’s cask ale week, so I’m going to be sampling the best of whatever I can get my chops round!

And sorry to bang on about this again, but we really, really need to take your example and buy from small brewers and support them as much as possible. The duty changes which may be coming could be devastating.

Completely agree mate - my post was somewhat tongue in cheek. I love overly hopped beer as much as the next hipster!

I suggest everyone Googles their local breweries and ring them up to see if you can buy direct from them. It’s brilliant to meet the brewers, and the beer might even be cheaper! 🍻

This is especially important as the pub trade is looking a bit shaky again, and due to the possibility of a duty change.

Last nights bevvies from Norfolk and Cornwall...

Duration are making some exceptionally well made beers and they are reasonably priced when bought direct. Their project is really inspirational, I love their Instagram stories and look forward to visiting one day.

And the Falmouth fanboyism continues apace...

Tomorrow this turns up, along with some Cloudwater newbies to top-up the cellar.

Looking forward to the Meet The Brewer online event next week as much as the beers. One of my “losses” thanks to Covid was a planned April trip to NYC which would’ve involved an afternoon at OH’s Brooklyn taproom. That’ll have to wait a while I guess.
