I have indeed Alan, very nice it is too. Like a lot of these strong ales they don't taste their strength and can creep up on you! That said I have an Old Peculier and a King Goblin a chilling to have next. I was in the Vic on Wednesday and Michael phoned in to ask what dark beer we'd like and of course I suggested the Raven, so I'm hoping it might be on tomorrow afternoon . . .

I am drinking La Belle Saison from Roughacre brewery, a local team who have, every Friday since lockdown began, been delivering 4 pint flagons of various of their beers to people’s homes. The price for such munificence you ask, a whole £12! For four pints of real ale, brewed with care, delivered to your door for £3 a pint. When the next honours list is out I shall be putting them forward.

Less gassy than the usual europ1ss style beers with a richer roasted barley taste.
    Very enjoyable.
I shall be having a few more tonight.
    Cheers to that

    Enjoy em!

Suddenly £12 a can starts to seem reasonable (when you consider the cost of a trip to have it in its native habitat).

Dearest beer I’ve ever had was ‘Sink the Bismarck’ from Brew Dog at £50 for a 330ml bottle.

Another new one to me, but that sounds excellent, and great value. Another example of the kind of small brewery which desperately needs our support, especially with the duty reforms that are coming.

Few pints of Pride over a lazy lunch, supplemented with some Goose IPA from the PD machine (first time tasting this, very impressed)

Changed the keg out for one in the fridge & enjoying a couple of slow Kwaks. Still not a fan of the glass though, feels too much effort.

They’ve been going about 18 months, based in Castle Camps just into Cambridgeshire, they hit the ground running with some excellent beers from a mild to a reserve ‘Abbey’ beer plus porter etc. Were just getting into the pubs as well as bottles in local stores when the pandemic hit and they have leveraged social media big time, usually a choice of a couple of real ales posted up on a Monday for delivery Friday, very shrewd, pretty well certain of selling 2 firkins in flagons and once it’s gone then it’s gone. I’ve already signed the duty petition, such a ‘pull up the drawbridge’ proposal by those just outside the limits currently in place!

Yes. But only because I switched to cider!

    There is none left now...

Nice, I’m loving that the West Coast style is being embraced again. 8% less punchy if you treat with respect and don’t canter through 3 or 4 of them I find.

    This evenings hit parade.

Not shown, guzzled it too quickly, Crouch Vale Amarillo.

Then into a juicy, fruity new batch of Invoice from Deya...

And then signing off with a bit of Verdant DIPA action, courtesy of the latest batch of Fruit Car Sight Exhibition. It’s big and bold, fruity and full, perhaps a little green? 5 more cans in the fridge so I’ll leave this for a few weeks to see if it mellows out...

I only managed 3/4 of the can. Nice...but a bit full on. I think I’m more of a session bitter chap!

Black Sheep. The quintessential Yorkshire bitter. One of my faves and a great brewery to visit and have lunch. Masham must be delighted to be home to both them and Theakstons.
