Passion fruit. Not usually a fan of too sweet ipa's but this is more aroma than taste. A little bland on the aftertaste but an easy drink.

Playing catch-up since my last post.

First up, the stash-fridge is looking healthy after a top-up from Unity + some guest beers they had in their shop.

This was an absolute delight. Fresh, fruity and zesty. Belter of a Summer session beer. Really hope they make some more of this.

A new one from East London’s Howling Hops, very sessionable...

This is the second time I’ve had Parka from Double-Barrelled in Reading, it’s a very nice session pale...

And this from Pressure Drop & Stigbergets was outstanding. Very probably the best NEIPA I’ve had all year. Grab one if you like this style, I guarantee you’ll love it...

    That was last weekend tied-up.

This weekend started last night, with a welcome return of Verdant’s Lighthouse session X-Pale...

... really fresh this, and tasting better than the times I’ve had it before. That big shiny new brewery in Falmouth is up and running again, if you’ve never tried their beers and you like the haze, sign-up to their newsletter and/or follow on Twitter/Instagram to catch the latest drops. They’re releasing a couple of styles each week now and in bigger quantities, so less of a mad scramble to getsum!

Finished last night with this one from Unity. Not bad at all, but not the best of this style. Still, good to try new ones, you never know!

Stay well all, enjoy the sunshine, see you later with today’s batch!

We had planned on being in the Lakes for the long bank holiday weekend with some good friends. So it’s no substitute for a pint at the Drunken Duck ..... but a taste of the Lakes

Love that stuff, I’ve had to rein myself in but I’d have been all over it any other time.

It’s a lovely session beer. Shame it’s in small can!

Vermouth Rosso with tonic, fresh lime & ice! Sweet & refreshing as a case of beers doesn’t last 24 hours here with a 20 & 18 year old supping every night!

    About last night.

After an evening spin on the road bike I fancied something hoppy but refreshing. Grabbed this from the fridge of joy...

That went down fast and enjoyably, and after a quick shower dinner was ready. Spicy chicken burgers in brioche buns, French fries and slaw, well, it had to be an IPA didn’t it...

If West Coast IPA’s can be sophisticated, then this is the benchmark. Not as smash-mouth hoppy as something like Racer 5 (which is an absolute hum-dinger as far as I’m concerned), but it’s got all the right notes. Sweet, malty, a refined bitterness of hops and subtle but “there” resiny piney finish. Another quality beer from East Anglia’s Duration.

And then, to finish up the evening, a Big one. Lots of chocolate, dominating the hazelnut and vanilla just a teeny bit more than I’d prefer. Nevertheless, it’s a friggin’ whopper of a brew. One to be savoured.

Tonight I'm drinking my homebrew which 8 finally managed to pick up from brewclub. A nice IPA. But because 9dbthe delay in bottling came out a bit darker.

And tonight’s medley of hoppy wonderment?

I was gifted this by a colleague from Krakow amongst a few others, very nice it was too. Malty-sweet with strong bitterness, American Pale Ale style. Reminded me of Darkstar or Long Man APA, which is a compliment for sure, albeit not quite as accomplished.

I then decided that something lighter was required for the last of the evening sun, and this from Unity was jolly bloody nice. Zesty, refreshing, a hint of vanilla sweetness but not too much.

Sadly not, as I’d hoped, a tribute to the great Larry “SHUT THAT DOOR!” Grayson.

With dinner I enjoyed a classic from Manchester...

And as I type this, I’m working my way through this, my last tin of Verdant’s 2020 Putty. Sunday is not going to be a busy or productive day.

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

Had a couple of mini kegs delivered by a mate , started this Friday and me and youngest all but finished it yesterday, nice light and hoppy just right for weather prior to today!

Syringe used to give a proper head on the beer!
Other keg is Jute IPA by Salt , looking forward to that.
Will probably be having a Stout/Porter today to go with Mrs T’s beef bourguignon.

Kernel Table beer for the big announcement. Was going to socially distance myself from the beer fridge but, now I know I won’t see a pub til July at the earliest, fuck it, I’m gonna tuck in.

I’m an abstainer Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and try to limit to max 1 on Sundays. That said, when I’m on holiday, every days a beer day!

Tomorrow my “holiday” starts and I’m not back “in” again until the 26th, so as our good friend says, “watch this space”.

P.S. had delivery from Verdant this week, due some Vault City Sours and just ordered Tracks new 13.5% peanut butter banana stout!
P.P.S. don’t miss DEYA’s release of My Life In The Sunshine on Friday, it was a standout last year and I’m going to risk the wrath of Mrs Works by grabbing a 6-er!

Lots of cans being opened around here, but some of the prices I see are quite eye watering. I've had Greene King Abbot and Wychwood Hobgoblin from cans lately, both as good as from a bottle IMHO. Even though the Hob is 4.5% compared to the 5.2% from a bottle it still has the same full bodied flavour. I'm trying this now, and I think it's a little nicer than the bottled Original I had recently . . .

Local bottle shop re-opened Thursday, they’ve been doing deliveries recently, so popped in to get a couple of pints of draft and a can. Got the Cherry Darling on draft by Ridgeside , cherry sour, really nice and refreshing. Got a can of their Picard - Orange Alert , orange curd sour - Resistance is Fruitile
