Have you tried Windhoek? Very nice lager brewed in Namibia. You can get it in the UK. Brewed to Reinheitsegot rules. To be honest I prefer it it Becks and it's my go to in Southern Africa if I can't get Zambezi Lager. Not that Necks is bad.

Yes, bought it new. I dithered for a while and was sitting at the bar in my local one night and realised that the second batch of 100 wouldn't last forever, so after my fifth pint I put the order in.

What do they sell for now? They rarely appear on eBay and even less often on SC.

    I've seen them go for under £500, usually £500 - £550.

Oh that's the GMT, as mine is. The originals go for up to 4 times that.

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

Went for a cheeky Sri Lankan curry early this evening
So it was Lion Stout 8.5% followed by Lion Lager 4.6% both served in pint and half bottles.

    8.5%. Not a session beer!

I'll give it a try. St Austell is one of, if not my favourite, brewers. Proper Job and Tribute are superb. Prefer both on tap, but the bottled PJ is better than bottled Tribute to me.

Working my way through a 6-pack of assorted Polish specialist beers off my in-laws. Not bad actually... Though after a certain point they all taste the same anyway.

Tonight in The Hope and Anchor in Greatham, we are drinking Tetley Imperial. And a cracking pint it is too.

It was just a social club near North Shields. Presume it must be available at many local pubs??

I have an Old Crafty Hen chilling for later. For now though a nice 3.8% thirst quencher, surely the best value going for 90p . . .

Just finishing work over on the West Coast of the US. Think I'll go home and enjoy a pint of my homebrew - first shot at a pilsner, and very nice it is too.. Even Stevie the Cat approves.

Local pub is having a mini beer festival this weekend with beers from around the local area. They have 14 different ones - had four half’s yesterday afternoon and will probably pop back on Monday.
Some great local brews for £1.50 a half

After a full day in the sun doing garden jobs, I'm about to enjoy this. At 6.5% it's not a session beer but a great one to start an evening of music and drinks. Cheers everyone!

I've come out to enjoy the beautiful end to a red hot day (and living next to the sea on the North East coast, it's not very often I can say that). I'm sat in the arbour watching the fish in the pond and drinking a beer. There's birdsong, insects buzzing around and in the distance, church bells. Perfection!

Well, today I'm parched rather earlier than usual due to the heat, so I've had to forsake the bottle for some very chilled cans, the snake has bitten me . . .

That's a very slippery slope. Haven't had snakebite since I had a nasty experience when I was in my teens.

I just finished the first glass of snakey, the cans have been emptied for the second half. On to darker things later in the evening whilst eating a pizza, then strumming on the acoustic guitar, not all at the same time mind . . .

From the local brewery near the holiday cottage.

This Notting Hill Amber by Moncada Brewery is gorgeous chilled. Hoppy and with a lovely balanced aftertaste, not sweet or malty like some ambers can be, just lovely, crisp, floral hint and slightly bitter.

    My only bottle though...
