Looks like you're in the Lakes/Cumbria Matthew. I get to try quite a few courtesy of my sis in law, who lives in Ulverston and brings me wee gifts over. Of course we stay over there too, which means we never get up the north Lakes now, not complaining though as the South Lakes area is less crowded and Ulverston is a lovely little market town. The Swan Inn always has an excellent choice and variety of ales on tap.

Any excuse! Was it an MX-5?!

Moved onto this, at 7.5% it's a slow sipper.

    London pride and square crisps.

Only disappointment is that I have no rich tea biscuits to have with cheese singles. The latter is the food of the gods

I’m in town for a slurp tomorrow, and although I wouldn’t be paid to drink their draught OB bitter I think I’ll pop in the Swan for a bottle of that stout.

If you like a beer (and I presume that because you're reading this thread, that's a given) you could do worse than sitting down with your favourite pint and watching this. It's brill. Record it now for enjoyment at your leisure.

Great find! Watched the first 10 mins now bookmarked. "In medieval times beer was preferred to water". I'm pleased to say I'm keeping that tradition alive.

There's quite a bit of beer being drunk this weekend, can't think why.

I "happened" to be in the vicinity of one of my favourite breweries recently so thought I stop by for a mixed case. Came away with a couple of these:

I prefer their Sussex ale but this is pretty good. Have a good Easter.

A good hard grind-it-out win at the rugby in the grip of storm Hannah, and its back home for a firm favourite.

God I miss Bass. This was my drink of choice in the pubs of Coventry when I was at Warwick Uni. You simply can't get it on tap here in Edinburgh and it's not in the supermarkets. That looks delicious. #jealousy

    That's a heck of a name for a beer!

  42. #1342
Makes a statement, doesn't it! To be fair, so does the beer - it's bloody lovely. Not the kind you could neck in one go, its flavours go on for so long a can could last an hour, easy.

Neonraptor don't have core products, they may make a beer just the once or they may make it a few times. I think I'm going to hunt down some more of this lest it disappears never to be seen again... just like Romulus.

Edit to add that it has taken me 2h to drink, and was all the better for it.

What fresh hell is this? ;-) Was it not warm and flat by then?

Ha! It sounds so wrong, doesn't it?

It was poured straight from the fridge however it isn't carbonated, and yes it did warm however that isn't detrimental to taste - this is no pishy larger.

I'm not sure of which yeast was used however there are 5 different hops (Citra, Denali, Simcoe, Ekuanot and Mosaic) that give it an intense, dry, citrus and pithy flavour profile that stays with you for a while even after swallowing, it's very much like a good spirit in that you don't have to chug it in order to gain the most enjoyment. It certainly stands by the D of the DIPA.

This may/will sound daft however I'd describe it as a slow motion bouncing bomb of a beer - taking a mouthful is the barrel hitting the water then *smash*, the exceptional flavours take off, take a journey much like the arch of the barrel and then, just when you were wondering how much longer the arch would continue, *boom* you take another sip and you're back in the air again.

A seemingly rare Friday night in sees me with this, another DIPA though from Loka Polly, my first from this brewery. Sadly it's not quite to the same standard as Neon Raptor's effort (no idea why I was calling them Neonraptor...) in my previous post however it'll do

    Loka Polly by CardSharkLotus

I think I've given Hopsters in Chelmsford a shout-out before, even if I have they deserve another. If anyone in the locality is looking for a great little craft ale shop with the most knowledgeable staff (Ed seriously knows his stuff) then please pay them a visit
