First up tonight is this spicy number. Contains scotch bonnet chilli oil and cocoa nibs.
It's... err... interesting! I'll need a cold one after this to cool my throat down.

I would not recommend that last beer. My bloody throat is on fire. Like having a tasty vindaloo but not as satisfying.

Into something a bit more mainstream now.

This thread is a year and a day old. Thanks to everyone who has shared their drinks.

Is anyone still enjoying a beer today or have you had enough over the festive period?!

I was out yesterday with some pals, had a mixture of Big Lamp Bitter, Raven Stout and Castle Eden Ale. It seemed a good idea at the time. My body and heed are separate warring entities at the moment. Large mug of milky sweet tea now, full recovery mode shortly, ie a bacon and egg sarnie......

Well, the earlier “treatments” , plus time, plus a belting hot shower have had a very positive effect. To complete the recovery, what maks yeh bad maks yeh better . . .

Well, we've done our bit to help! I still have one of the Sam Smith's that I lugged back from the Toon a couple of weeks ago, that'll be going tonight. Yumm!

    Wading through the sand
    On an icy Southwold beach
    We’ve thirst and outstretched hand
    Towards the pub we reach
    A party’s in full swing
    Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing
    Our drinking song tonight

    Oh Shingle Shells, Shingle Shells
    Shingle all the way
    Water, barley, hops and yeast
Make an Adnams beer – Hooray!

    Citrus on the nose
    With toffee notes to boot
    Down the throat it goes
    A beer of much repute.
    A drink of deepest red
    Your senses will assail
At a strength you need not dread
    There’s no finer festive ale.

    Oh Shingle Shells, Shingle Shells
    Shingle all the way
    Water, barley, hops and yeast
Make an Adnams beer – Hooray!

Pinched from Adnams’ website, I’m afraid. I think that the credit goes to their Finance Director, Stephen Pugh.

Superb stuff, chocolate stout with just a hint of stout. I love Sam Smiths, ordered 48 assorted bottles from Beers of Europe before Christmas.

Had a cheeky quaff of some Shiraz with a plate of Italian meats, olives and cheeses, back to the dark side now . . .

However, a choice to be made soon to see the year out . . .

Not tried that Yorkshire Square, note to self . . .

Now that the world returns to normal tomorrow I can resume my midweek trips up to the Toon for some peace, tranquility, and ale. The Crown, the Bridge et al, I hear you calling me . . .

Bob - I'm up your way on Saturday, I'll gladly drop you a bottle off. It's quite difficult to come by, I have to go to the Black Sheep Brewery to get mine. If you're interested PM me your address. Best.

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

Quite nice to have a real beer this evening after a few weeks of African lager.

Had to pop into town to return a library book. It’s rather rude to walk past ones regular watering holes, so it’s a Castle Eden in the Dun Cow . . .

Ohhhh I do miss that from living out in France

I've been drinking a wonderful stout over the festive period - creme brulee by dark star breweries

That and I attempted a home brew of ginger beer, not bad for a first attempt - 7% makes and interesting drink, however still a bit 'yeasty' so need to work on that - any home brewers out there

Of course one can’t ignore one’s other watering hole, that would be just too rude, so a cold stroll to the Vic and a warm through with a pint o’ Raven stout . . .
