The Purple Panther is very reminiscent of Guinness Export, smooth but with a full body and bags of coffee / toffee tones. Leaves plenty of taste in the mouth too.

Well, the summer season seems to have started so something cold and suitably quenching required . . .
I also sought something out today, more of which later . . .
I take my little used old Picasso out for a run regularly to keep the battery in good order, so diverted to a Lidl several miles away to check the store out, so . . .
Yes, it's like a dark ale with a shot of coffee in the mix. It sounds awful but it's really delicious.
Had to nip up the Town on an errand, so sat in the Crown Posada listening to some blues on the gramophone, with . . .
I also called into Fenwicks earlier and now have a weighty satchel on my shoulder, more of which later . . .

I resurrected my old Lands End “Squarerigger” this week as I needed a day bag. Must be well over 30yrs old now.
Took it to the Town yesterday and it proved to be very handy when I popped into Fenwicks.

I see your trio and match it thus.
I bought a few of the Whitby Jet Black direct from their factory shop, just a stone's throw from the Abbey.
My mate gave me a pack of Camden Pale Ale.
First time of trying and finding it really nice. Had a pint of it in Shoreditch this week too, and not too bad from the pump.
Also tried a month or two back the M&S Earl Grey Tea beer, which went down really well. I like what they are doing with these flavoured beers and they often have a good multi buy deal on them.
Some grand choices here tonight, cheers!
Now for the 1ˢᵗ from the Fenwicks lot . . .
Very balanced, just the right bitterness without being overpowering.
Had one or two then moved onto a few GnT. Just to help keep the mozzies away you understand.

Superb! Just the right amount of smokiness, plus just enough bitterness in the aftertaste. My knapsack will be bulging next Toon trip! :-)
At a club in Hartlepool watching the legendary Sinnerboy (Barry Barnes) and drinking Trophy (big head, the pint that thinks its a quart for us oldies!)
