Tonight I'll be drinking all sorts - As a heads-up, it's the Chelmsford Summer Beer Festival at Admirals Park, I shall be there enjoying some fine ales and basking in the sun.

    Anyone local going?

Some Swedish stuff called Falcon Extra Brew. 3.5%, the max available in Supermarkets. Generic Eurofizz. Have to go to gov. Systembuylager stores for a decent beer, wine, whisky etc.

I bought a selection at Tesco yesterday in the 4 ales for £6 offer. I picked a few I haven’t tried before and have just had a Black Sheep Milk Stout. Not bad at all.

That's where I buy most of mine on that offer, plus the Bank's Amber at 90p and the Wychwood Hobgoblin at £1.25. There's an Aldi and a Home Bargains next door to my local Tesco and there's often different stuff at good prices in those stores as well.

Yes. ALDI has recently had a beer festival promotion running. The Marston’s 61 Deep was very good.

Hopped (pun intended) on a train up to the Toon to escape the drunken throng that is the Miner’s Gala in Durham. It’s proving to be hot and thirsty work tramping about with a camera, so I’ve ducked into the excellent Bridge Hotel for a refreshment, loads of choice in here, so a quick quencher . . .

That looks just what the Doctor ordered. I've got some work to do at a relatives this afternoon, but when I get back there is a choice of beer chilling in the fridge.

    What sort of photography BTW?

Nothing in particular, brought my old Canon 5D with a 24-105L on, so a good walkabout combo for urban walkabout use. Best to ensure good hydration before strolling over the bridge to Gateshead and the huge choice in the Central . . .

Well, 8 ales on in the Central in Gatesheed, had a Roosters Yankee, then down the bank and over the Tyne via the swing bridge to the Crown Posada, a true gem, where I’m drinking Raptor Stout and listening to the Beatles blue album on vinyl . . .

. . . took some pics en route too!

Back in 2009-11 I was working on a project in Newcastle. I stayed at the Hilton Gateshead a couple of nights a week and spent my evenings at the Bridge Inn and the Crown Posada. I really liked the Mighty Mussel for food too. Them was the days...

Here's my current stock in the auxiliary refrigeration unit (beer fridge) in the larder:

Mix of Tesco and Aldi -sourced beers:

And the Sadler's Thin Ice in my Robinsons-brewed Iron Maiden Trooper glass:

I'm heading out to the patio. Cheers!

    That definitely says beer o’clock.

There’s a fabulous tap room, I shall commence with the flavourful Hurricane Reef IPA. Tastes even better at the happy hour price of $3 a pint.

I’ve thought the same, but would struggle to make a dent in this, which is but a small corner of the stockroom.

If you like it 'richer', try Peroni Grand Reserva- VERY good (although Moretti is my favourite Italian)
Waitrose have a lovely Irish Hop House '13' lager - VERY drinkable, and a decent offer on Carlsberg Export - superb in this weather !
