Thread: Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

  1. #4551
I too have just found the beer cave in Penrhyn Bay, very good selection. It's a bit like going into a Willy Wonka beer equivalent! Being new to the area where else could you reccomend please?

Welcome to North Wales, Juan. Its a magic place to live.

The only other interesting lace I am aware of is Vinomondo in Conwy, but it stocks wine & spirits with craft beer secondary.

Trip to Harrogate with Mrs T and had a Bad Kitty in Disappearing Chin

Then a couple of White Rat in Fat Badger.
Back to Horsforth and having a Three Swords in Granville’s

Lightly hopped winter ale from another local brewery - not as sweet as most that I’ve had over Xmas.

It isn't often that I have my three favourite beers in the house at the same time. Bottoms up!

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

    Happy New Beer y’all!

Some lovely stuff there, looking forward to a pint in a pub later.

Meantime, last night was all about the wine, bar this beauty from Burning Sky…

Stayed in Helmsley whilst on a bike trip with friends in 2019, we were there for 5 days and most evenings started with a visit to the brewery, really enjoyed their beers, I remember a stunning stout too, nice to know they are still thriving. Cheers, John B4

I had a pint of Solar Eclipse black IPA last night, I have to say I was very disappointing. More like a Smokey dish water than similar pints I have necked. I like a black IPA but this one is one to avoid in my opinion.

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

    Decisions, decisions…
I’m very partial to Brewdog stouts and rarely have anything else when I find myself sat in one of their pubs, so a wee selection might open me up to something different!

And before you ask, no I won’t be sampling them all at once!

Dry January for me, too, but I think I'm just going to enjoy a Tamnavulin whisky later on.

Can’t wait to get back there. Twas a regular haunt in my Uni days and a favoured pre-match spot when I used to waste good time and money watching LUFC lose at home.

    50th Birthday pressie...

Loving my wife's approach to an everlasting 50th birthday pressie - a beer blade.

Currently consuming an 8l keg of Birra Messina - Cristalli Di Sale.

Never heard of the brand before but my word, it's lovely. Like an unfiltered pilsner with a hint of salt.

Good grief - that looks utterly utterly lovely!
I am struggling not to lick the screen.
(It has been a very long week, and my local store has completely run out of stouts and porters....)

Stewart Brewing Oatmeal Stout, clinging to the sides as a good ale should - yum!

From a fairly nearby brewery (Edinburgh) who produce an exceptional range of craft cask ales, and my local has them on the pumps in abundance. This is the first stout of theirs I’ve tasted, and it’s a robust cracker!

Any love for Marston's Brewery here?

I'm staying at a Marston's pub/hotel for work the week after next and so have been doing a bit of research, their Pearl Jet stout has taken my fancy.

Marstons is mainly a PubCo these days. Their beers are basically the Carlsberg brands plus a few the latter distribute under license.

Some of it is good - Brooklyn & Erdinger for instance - but most of their offering isn’t what I prefer these days. I’ve not had the stout though so you’ll have to report back after your research!

I thought as much, I'm not sure if they've got the stout on tap but as long as they've got Guinness to fall back on, which I believe they have, I'll be a happy man.

I'm staying at the Redesdale Arms in Moreton-in-Marsh, according to Untappd they have a fairly wide selection including their own Redesdale Ale brewed locally. Must admit I'm not a massive ale fan though.
