Been over Whitby way this weekend and tried a couple of new(to me) venueson Friday night. After a couple in Whitby Brewery, an IPA and the Blonde, went to The Esk Vaults at bottom end of Flowergate for pizza and a couple of drinks

Had the Nitro Engine & Suspended in Simcoe

Nipped back in Saturday early evening , Beer O’clock

Round to Arch&Abbey go Half Moon Old Forge bitter

Finished at Esk Vaults with The Kernal!

Some good shouts there. If you are ever in London you must give The Kernel’s tap a visit.

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

On holiday in Cornwall and tucking in to one of my favourite cask ales at every opportunity.

Proper Job - “PJ”, as it’s known to my drinking mates - has long been a favourite of mine, especially on cask. It used to be stronger and it’s been dialled back on the ABV quite a bit, but it still packs a flavoursome punch to the tastebuds. PJ and Thornbridge Jaipur are two beers where my “if I see it on cask, I buy” it” rule applies.

    Cheers!

Pub lunch... and a pint of Black Sheep. Guess I need to get it while stocks last

Beer Heaven has arrived in the form of Old Peculiar. On draught. The only downside is that the server brought me over a half. I shall remedy that with the next one.

My journey of discovery into the world of cloudy beers and coloured tins continues with a tin of Cosmic Dust:

Nicer than last week's Verdant but still a bit on the sweet side.

No, not yet but I do have a Pressure Drop in the fridge.

    Started today with this one:

Not as good as it's cousin. Leaves a slightly soapy aftertaste.

Walloped a few down last night, waiting for and watching Elton at Glasto.

A bonkers sour from Omnipollo and a trio of Falmouth’s finest gloop from Verdant.

Just about to tuck into a session, milkshake and black IPA on this warm and humid evening. Brewed in Denmark, Croatia and Serbia respectively.

Deya's Steady Rolling Man after a long day in London. Refreshing however it's not quite the beer I remember from last drinking a few months back.

    Maybe it's because I'm shattered.

Popped out for a couple last Sunday with Mrs T , stroll down to Horsforth Brewery and had a By the Hair of Ernie , nice pale ( forgot picture) We then went in The Hop Shack and I had Brew York’s Haze of Thunder, Goose Willis for Mrs T. Heading back home dark clouds gathering so detour to Old Kings Arms for a couple until rain abated!

I am not normally a lager drinker but I am enjoying this one in the hot weather - it was also left over from the BBQ last weekend.

Finishing up my Cornish holiday suppin’ snaps.

A lovely fresh pint of Tribute on the pontoon of The Pandora Inn, Restronguet Creek nr Falmouth.

Then a trio of Verdant favourites in the evening. I’ve probably banged on about these too much, but I keep coming back to Lightbulb (an effortlessly refreshing Extra Pale Ale), People Money Space Time (a Pale Ale with a great deal more body and flavour than its 3.8% ABV might suggest - again, superbly quaffable), and one of their punchier IPA’s, Neal Gets Things Done.

Keeping on the Verdant theme, I have visited the taproom a few times but always by car and always in a bit of a rush. In, grab cans, out. Taking my bike on holiday this year was great. Managed to get some fabulous rides in, and decided to do one which was a loop from Portscatho where we stayed, into Truro to pitstop at the excellent Red Elephant Beer Cellar, then onward to have a pizza and a couple of halves of Verdant’s cask ale at their brewery tap, and the ferry back to St Mawes.

1/3 of Marigold NEIPA at Red Elephant.

Back on the bike for a long, hard push-on to Verdant in Penryn, Falmouth.

Great pizza, fresh from their oven!

And it’s big brother, Big Job. One of my personal favourites this, like PJ but supercharged. If you like West Coast style IPA this is one for you.

And once back from Cornwall on Friday, after a marathon 7+ hour drive (which should’ve been 4.5), a few scoops from the beer fridge.

Newburgh Brewery’s Brown Ale (a Newcastle Brown Ale style beer). Not bad but I wouldn’t rush back for another.

Superb Cali IPA from Siren. I can’t recall when I last had a beer from them I didn’t enjoy.

And yes, more Verdant, including Putty 2022 which has been hanging around long beyond it’s BBE.

And finally, last night, officially my “last night of the holiday”, some more from the fridge.

Schilling Beer Co were recommended to my by a friend in New York and this is the second beer I had from them. It was excellent and I’m 100% sold on them as a brewery. Would love to get some more next time I’m on the East Coast.

Citra’s my favourite of the hop varieties so I was very happy to be gifted this from Browar PINTA by a colleague. Super fruity, dangerously easy to drink at a punchy 8%.

And a good, but not great, Oatmeal Stout from Singapore’s Brewerkz, gifted by a friend who loves there currently and kindly brought back some to try.

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

Wee quick visit to Edinburgh for the day and had to, of course, visit the excellent Guildford Arms! The usual fine array of real ales, however initially slightly disappointed with our choices, but turned out to be acquired tastes, so a result in the end!
Beartown for me and Black Iris for Madam.

Couple from last weekend, went to Horsforth brewery before bbq at son’s house. Anthology Tony on cask , Dry Irish Stout followed by Horsforth Trinity
then some cans at son’s place.

Also had a couple of Kirkstall Three Swords , 440 cans from Morrison’s £5 for four which I think is good value.

    Well that week went fast.

Not really the time of year for it, but kindly gifted by a friend, this was nice.

Another gifted by a friend whose been in Singapore a lot. Not the best TBH…

An old favourite. In my humblest opinion, one of the best West Coast IPA’s brewed in the UK.

And now a big gun for dessert. Feeling pretty loose after 2/3 of this bad boi…

Then down to Kings for a couple of Kirkstall Three Swords and dry out from phishing down rain!

    Saturday night specials.

Guilty pleasures after a spot of gardening.

One my local-ish breweries is Elusive. They make some darn good American style beers, this one is a series that’s always good. I really like this style.

Then it was “off to Singapore” to try this IPA a friend gifted me. Very nice.

A random sour cos the Pina Colada song was on the radio. This was really sweet n sour, a bit much for me TBH and I really like Vault City usually.

And the unnecessary DIPA to finish. Very boozy straight out the can but mellowed a bit. I nursed it over and hour or so.

Bit of a thick head this morning.
