I'm staying at the Redesdale Arms in Moreton-in-Marsh, according to Untappd they have a fairly wide selection including their own Redesdale Ale brewed locally. Must admit I'm not a massive ale fan though.
In that area keep your eyes peeled for Hook Norton Brewery beers. It’s not far away. And if you want a really lovely lunch or dinner, I can recommend The Kingham Plough about 15 mins drive from your hotel.

Excellent, I'll be spending the week babysitting some Portuguese colleagues so The Kingham Plough recommendation is gratefully received, as are any others you may have?

I've just checked and the hotel's got Ironstone Lager from Hook Norton Brewery, I'll give it a go and report back.

I’ve not been, but a good place to drain the company Credit Card, is The Wild Rabbit (also in Kingham), owned by Lady Bamford (of the JCB clan).

The Lamb Inn, Burford is also worth a look. Burford itself is a beautiful, quintessential Cotswolds village, so your colleagues will love that.

To the north is Chipping Campden, another beautiful village with some good pubs and Cotswold House Hotel & Spa. We stayed there a few years ago, food and service was excellent.

And if your colleagues want to see a really traditional and unusual brewery, take them to Hook Norton for a tour. It’s a very rare example of a Victorian Tower Brewery, of which there are only a few left…

Harviestoun Brewery make some cracking beers. Their Schiehallion Lager is also fantastic.

Northern Monk Northern Star PorterAttachment 19190

TASTING UPDATE: That was a good drop and I really quite enjoyed it, mellowed considerably after the first third or so after my palate had adjusted. My only regret is buying just the 1, I bought a few different stouts and porters from Tesco this afternoon including Northern Monk's Death Star Ep.II with the intention of drinking them sparingly...

    I'm a weak, weak man!

Northern Monk Death Star Ep.II Imperial StoutAttachment 19191

TASTING UPDATE: Thick like treacle and sticky on the lips, the flavour notes were somewhat overcome by the strength of this one (12%!) and I declare it too rich for my blood, that's me done for the night!

Really enjoying Wye Valley Meadery, some cracking ales there - and of course, with the help of bees, must be healthy...

There I was yesterday early doors in the Vic having a quiet sup and a bit crack on, when 2 "gentlemen" decided to partake of fisticuffs, quite unheard of in this afternoon oasis of calm! Once we overcame the surprise of it and went to resolve the situation, they'd fallen to the floor, still pummelling each other. As a pal and I started to heave the top one off his opponent (both about 18-19 stone) I noticed that a rather loud chap in the corner who'd being annoying folks had decided to raise one of the tall and rather heavy bar stools above his head with intent to bring it down on someone - not good - so I was forced to divert my attention as I was in the line of fire. Well, I removed the weapon from him and gave him some life advice and the police arrived and took care of the rest. As you were . . .

    Mid week beer for me
I saw this in a shop and thought I would give it a try
It’s very nice, clean, crisp and hoppy but rather strong at 5.8%
An enjoyable lager which is a rarity for me

Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

Treated to a couple of local brews by my good lady, Cloudwater Brew Co, Blackforest Gateaux Imperial Stout, 11%. Guess I’ll only partake of the one as I’m driving tomorrow.

It was a time where we only drunk ice tea at home (us children) because we knew the water had been boiled (on top of the Pasteur filter). So Larue was a healthy alternative when he was thirsty. I did taste it then but I can’t remember. I am not surprised by the American analogy though as he liked Miller when we lived in the US

I'm ashamed to say that I was drink driving yesterday afternoon...

3 of us went to Hackney's Four Quarters for a few beers and some nostalgic game playing. That's probably my all time favourite arcade game right there with a pint of Mondo's Outrun Hazy Pale, brewed to match Beavertown's Gamma Ray in flavour profile.

Started on yet another excellent ale from Hadrian early doors yesterday . . .

Then on to another local ale from Big Lamp, very aptly named for supping in the Palatinate . . .

Spoiled for choice just to the west of the Toon . . .

Having finished a week of alcohol-free on call, I have selected these three for a thirst-quenching session. There may be a fourth as I'm not at work tomorrow. Who knows!

After a day on the river flinging fluf at trout I sat down with a couple of bottles of Platform 6.1

I like a stronger beer and wouldn't contemplate anything below 4.5%. The bigger the number the better!

has anyone had a slurp of 'Sink The Bismark'?

By chance I bought a brace each of their porter and stout today at B&M Bargains, £1.79 per bottle, tremendous value. I've had the porter before and it's excellent, I'll be trying the stout later after a swally of Greene King Abbot.

I’m on Skye this week, sourced some Scottish beers for the fridge from Inveralmond, Overtone and Williams Bro’s Brewing. I’d love to share them with you but Tapatalk seems to be in a perpetual state of distress where embedding pics is concerned.

First of a brace from Lidl, an excellent ale, reduced from the already marvellous £1.09 to 99p. Brewed for them by Shepherd Neame last time I checked . . .
