    Tell me about Bangkok please

Looking at a potential stopover on the way to Australia this summer and wanted to ask for any experiences and advice about Bangkok for me, the wife and teenage daughter, 3-4 days max.

Stay central, visit Wat Phra Kaew, Riverside cruise past the temples and canals, visit Chatuchak Market, see if you can get a day trip to Ayutthaya, visit Yaowarat (Chinatown) in the evening for the best street food on the planet.

Grab a Lonely Planet, and go hog-wild. It's a wonderful city for a short week break, and there will be things to see, eat and drink on every corner.

If I were to suggest one day, then take the Skytrain to National Stadium, MBK for shopping, then cross the road to the Jim Thompson house, and eat at the restaurant there.

100% do it. Loads to see and do. Were off to Thailand for 3 week in the Summer with our boys (13 and 7 years old) and will be spending approx 1 week in Bangkok. We’ve been before, it’s amazing.

Went a couple of years ago - we did a guided tour (just us, no group). Was amazing, went on all the forms of transport including tuk-tuk and long tail boat. Visit to the huge international flower market, lovely temples and an amazing riverside meal in the evening.

Mindful that I didn’t actually make any suggestions on what to do, so how about…
Enjoy Asiatique night market at The Riverfront

Plenty of family friendly massage places-our entire family enjoy them.

Eating food, so many places to try out but a good and cheap option (perhaps for lunch) are food courts within the many shopping malls (e.g. inside Terminal 21)

    Watch a Muay Thai fight.

I agree with an evening at a roof top bar too

Did Bangkok and Singapore on Oz trip a few years ago.

Everything was ace and lovely people.

Contrasts are stark in even just a row of ‘shops’

Have a great time, all of you. Hope you enjoy.

    I’m JAF!!

This, although from my memory it was £35-50 a cocktail in 2019.

Currently in Koh Samui, first time in Thailand and will be heading to Bangkok for 3 nights before going home. Booked hotel in Terminal 21, Asok as it’s on both skytrain and MRT. Going on a 4 hour TukTuk food tour on first night so looking forward to that. Got a whole list of malls, markets and sights planned but probably only cover a fraction. Trip has been amazing so far.

Currently in Bangkok now. Staying in the Mercure Sukhumvit 11. A really nice hotel and well located for bars, nightlife and shopping at Terminal 21. Also near a Skytrain stop
Its is very hot and humid at the moment. Only got 24 hours here before we head back but from what I’ve seen it’s an absolutely bonkers place especially at night. Been on a mad tuk tuk ride at 1am. The guy did the distance from the river in half the time of a taxi. Will be going on food tour today and to see the golden Buddha. Will need to come back and spend a bit longer to properly see it.
