Mmmmm beer. What beer are we drinking tonight?

Whilst in the Toon I popped into a certain large department store to buy our lass some luxury items for Crimbo. I inadvertently also bought a little something for myself for the weekend . . . ;-)

Having a little treat courtesy of our German beer friends tonight. Reminds me of sitting outside Bar ZKB in the Markplatz in Heidelberg on a nice sunny day, just being part of the scenery for a few!

Voilà! All the way from Fenwicks up the Toon, great value at £2.49/550ml. It’s a quid more in a Sam Smith’s pub. Had to pay and dash out, the counter is next to a vast wall of malt whiskey, ooh so tempting! Gorgeous!

You don't do so bad yourself hinny! Had to exercise great self control and save the second bottle for another time. Plenty of choice in the cellar though, an archive pic, but same ale, watch and time . . .

PS. Went to the library yesterday...

Got one of these on Black Friday (deal still active) and it works fantastically well.

The range of beers could be better, but they do introduce new options from time to time I believe.

I'm a huge fan of Lagunitas IPA, so can't wait for it to be available.

This as a first up. I have to say it's a bit... odd. Mrs Sish described it as a cross between fruit cordial, cider and lemonade (and who am I to disagree). Not wholly unpleasant but it won't be in my basket again when I call into Fenwicks.

    More to follow.

Myself and Trevor got trapped in the Vic by torrential sleet/snow. Freezing underfoot. Nothing for it but to continue drinking stout. We eventually made a break for the Dun Cow for some Castle Eden Ale. Later, spurred on by news of the Toon winning, made a break for home, albeit through driving sleet and deep freezing slush/snow. Home now with a warming dram . . .

That all sounds smashing. I'm Oncall until Monday, my last stint before next year.
Christmas drinking can then officially begin.

When it started out life in this glass, it was a Williams Bros Caesar Augustus "hybrid IPA"

I don't know how one arrives at "hybrid", but accompanied with some salt & pepper cashews it's been a delightful antidote to a 6hr drive up to Edinburgh.

    Birra due of the evening...

Interesting beer - light and golden, not too fizzy but it's got a mild malty taste like you'd get in a Belgian dark beer, with an unmistakable taste of honey too...

It's a grower, for sure! Not sure why it's been served in a Captain Morgan tankard though...

Had a well deserved day off work. Popped over to Masham to stock up for Christmas. Probably the best example of a Yorkshire bitter.
