    Back once again with the ill behaviour... and some smashing ales above since last I posted. Top refreshments gentlemen

    Returning home from a haircut I found myself in need of a cool beverage and I happened to read that the Dog & Bell in Deptford had East London Brewery’s Cowcatcher APA on. Sadly I missed it (it’s one of my favourite cask ales), but was happy to find they had another ELB cask that I’d not had before, Bow Creek, a West Coast style IPA. Suffice to say it went down fast and well.

    Later that day I found out that not only can our German chums brew some awesome beers in their own classic styles (more of that in a mo), they also turn out a mean Hazy Juice bomb too.

    The Mrs has knocked up a chilli and I selected Roam Brewing Co’s version of “All Together”, the Other Half inspired worldwide IPA which is helping support hospitality professionals who have been hit hard by C19. Slightly sweet malt profile and a very smooth mouthfeel made this an enjoyable accompaniment.

    Another single-hop bomber from Cloudwater followed, hoppy and piney notes with a little earthy edge.

    I also had a few more that I failed to snap, but come last Saturday it was German lager day in the sun, with these three old favourites.

    Assuming the flight isn’t cancelled and neither Germany nor the U.K. ban travel, I’ll be in Dusseldorf next week, supping some local brews and reporting back!

    £4 a can? Seems steep?

    After a few nights off I'm looking forward to grabbing a selection of these from the fridge later, in no particular order:

    It's Verdant. £4 is amazing for how good it is, and canned yesterday. It's a rabbit hole though, no turning back

    This, plus it’s not filling the coffers of the big brewing giants or loss-leader supermarkets.

    Beavertown = Heineken
    Camden = ABInBev

    Fair play the others, but I’m afraid I just won’t buy big beer beers now, or anything from anyone in red on this list...

    https://beernouveau.co.uk/sbdrc-update/

    I’ll be taking great care of who I spend my beer money with in future, and I hope everyone here will consider the same.

    Walked into town to go to the bank this afternoon, and of course it's always rude not to visit one's local and say hello . . .

    Starting with this one

    Good honest westy, if westy is your thing will be up there, i like one every now and then

    Thing is the Verdant DIPAs recently have been sensational so they have set a high bar for all releases at the moment

    It’s a cracking pint of easy drinking stout too. Better than Guinness IMHO. And I love Guinness!

    Just talked myself out of one of those as know I will consume more beer. Love the idea of leffe on tap, beautiful.

    Decided instead I will just treat myself to a few pints in some local-ish pubs over a weekend. Wife doesn’t really drink, so becomes the driver home, bless her.

    Had my first pint of rebellion since lock down at the weekend, was beautiful. Can’t wait for the 2 free pints at the brewery to open up again!

    Catch-up from last weekend then...

    A good run!

    I’m dry this week because - all things being equal - im off to Düsseldorf on Thursday for the weekend. Should be plenty of German beers on this feed as a result.

    Ooof, serious beverage. I don’t know if you’ve drank it like that, but does it taste alcoholic if not cold enough? I’ve found that Brewdogs amplified Hazy Jane can taste a bit like that when it gets warmer.
    Cheers!
