Some good suggestions here so far & first one that came to mind was -

Iron Maiden - Phantom of the Opera

Some of you might not know it but if you ever saw a Lucozade advert, you’ll know the song.

    Some great choices above.

Leftfield- Open Up would be another for me.

Dire Straits and GnR are masters of a good intro.

Good one, haven't heard any Bruce Hornsby for a while but he turned out some great tunes.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Smoke On The Water yet? And I wish the last two minutes of November Rain was an intro, it's the best bit of the song.

If you like that intro then you'll as likely like this:

Then a brace of classic intros from a performer often overlooked as a great singer-songwriter:

    https://youtu.be/myo9wXrNUP4

    https://youtu.be/h04CH9YZcpI

And finally, not just a great intro but a great voice:

    My favourite...

    Thunder Road, Bruce Springsteen...

“Screen door slams, Mary’s dress sways,
Like a vision she dances across the porch,
while the radio plays Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey that’s me and I want you only...”

Poetry, I can picture it every time I hear it!
