SOTC - What a great year!

Started my WIS journey probably the same year I joined TZ, so it's been some time. To say I peaked would be an understatement, but I wasn't happy owning such expensive and rare watches, so 2 years ago I sold the lot and reached a crossroads as to where I would go next.

This year I have dabbled with many of the micro brands, but it's only really been Timefactors that has kept my attention, representing fantastic build quality, robustness and extremely good value for money.

So where have I ended up?

PRS-18A - great little watch and for me the perfect beater. Mind you the wife likes to wear it more often than not.

Dan Henry - love the retro dial and cheap as chips!

Seiko SKX007 - The only watch I bought prior to joining TZ and I still have it. Modded and loved by my eldest son who wears it most weekends, so I guess it's his now if I'm honest.

PRS-42 B-UHR - Always wanted an original and when Eddie produced his lack of funds meant I missed out. Luckily I was recently able to buy the last one produced. Better than I had wished for the winding ritual is an addictive pleasure.

Kobold 323 - A very rare bird indeed and the first watch produced by Michael Kobold with help from his mentor Helmut Sinn. Basically a Sinn 156 with Kobold dial. Stupidly sold this on the forum but was lucky enough to buy back at the original selling price. I really can't put a price on this.

Sinn 757 Diapal - a recent arrival and absolutely stunning. Built like a tank and a joy to look at anytime of the day with the light dancing on it's dial. Sinn at its best and the perfect travel companion.

Garmin Fenix 5X - We all need a bit of tech in the collection. Perfect when dog walking, down the gym, out on the bike or on holiday. Does everything it says on the tin and more.

Quite a far departure from collections of past, but far happier with what I have and enjoy each and every watch in the collection. It's renewed my passion and as such will probably add more of the brand that started it all for me.......

    Sinn

Just love it, doesn't feel cheap, looks awesome and the plexi dome is gorgeous. No issues with the quartz movement, chrono resets correctly and keeps perfect time.

I love your collection! The kobold is really a very nice watch. When it popped in the SC I contacted the seller. It was already gone...back to you!
    So this led me down a rabbit hole. It all started with this;

    A very neat little homage.
    After a bit of a collection reshuffling this found its way to me;

Now, I have to hunt for a bracelet and hope that a Sinn 156 JDM finds its way to me...

It was you're beautiful 156 that sent me down the rabbit hole back in 2009!!

Blimey, you've gone down market mate!

Just joking, I know exactly how you feel. I too love to wallow in some of the interesting but less expensive stuff nowadays.

My interests are mainly early Japanese stuff.

    Enjoy your new perspective.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Cracking collection, well done, I don't know where to start.

PRS18a - what an underrated watch, I love mine.

I really like the look of the Dan Henry - I know nothing about them, but the Kobold and Sinn are terrific.
Tough choice between the two, but the Sinn shades it for me - just.

ps - love the pin striped Natos, where did you get them from?

    Good stuff.

    I have a PRS18A & 757 Diapal too. Both firm favourites.

    You're not wrong!

A far cry from watches past but their value just ruined my pleasure of ownership, especially as it's still just a watch at the end of the day (blasphemy in these here parts I hear you say).

Seem to have come full circle and getting back to my "Sinn" roots. Strange hobby indeed.

Just to echo what others have said that is a nice collection and I am quite taken by those MN straps, one of those could well be my next watch related purchase.

With the OP totally re values now taking the pleasure or whatever outta things, great if cashing them in but.........The days of old Speedys changing hands here for £1- £1500 are long gone. At least you could actually wear em back then.
Like your new outlook, and the new arrivals
I've fancied a Bund homage for a while and the Kobbold does it for me.

You still got that old Landie btw? Mini still with me😎

Got a bigger Landie now, especially with two bigger Labradors! If I need some speed the Ducati gives me my fix. Must catch up again, hopefully the next Norwich GTG. You can check out the Kobold, it's my favourite too.
