    Thermos heads up

Thermos ultimate 900ml 25 quid on amazon
I've been through many flasks over the past few years. This one has about the same thermal efficiency as the thermos king but is much much lighter. It's my flask of choice these days.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Cheaper than the 500 ml version at the moment.

looks good value for money and lightweight, I'm tempted although I've just bought a Thermocafe 1.0L

    any recommendations for cup/mugs?

the mrs & I usually share a flask for a couple of brews or cups of soup, the flask usually has 1'mug' only

I've never understood Thermos flasks, I mean when you fill it with hot water it keeps it hot and when you fill it with cold water it keeps it cold. But how does is know?

    Reminded me of this:

DAVID Beckham goes shopping, and sees something interesting in the
kitchen department of a large department store.
"What's that?" he asks. "A Thermos flask," replies the assistant.
"What does it do?" asks Becks. The assistant tells him it keeps hot
things hot and cold things cold. Really impressed, Beckham buys one and
    takes it
along to his next training session.
"Here, boys, look at this," Beckham says proudly. "It's a Thermos
    flask."
    The lads are impressed.
"What does it do?" they ask.
"It keeps hot things hot and cold things cold,"says David.
"And what have you got in it?" asks Roy Keane.
"Two cups of coffee and a choc ice," replies David.

No comparison between the thermocafe range and thermos's top line. If you buy the ultimate and do some tests yourself the difference will be obvious

Cups /mugs are a slightly more tricky area

I could ramble on but i would possible risk boring even myself.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Think I’ll ask my stepdaughter’s labrador (Ozzie) for one..........he spends lots of time with me thesedays! Ideal way for him to show how grateful he is.

I get v. frustrated with cheap flasks that are poor, might treat myself to one of these.

Mugs zjorushi, kleancanteen (mkii lid) or the avex ones in costco, I seem to have an obsession with all things thermos related I've even got a cupboard dedicated to them lol.

Have had the same thermos for 25 years!, I "bought" it with tiger tokens that you used to get with Esso petrol. Fantastic quality flasks.

    It's all about the lid

The problem with the contigo ones is that while it provides a good thermal barrier and liquid security it is pretty complicated which doesn't make for easy cleaning.

The zoji ones are good. I used to really like my simple 300ml lifeventure, also had a cheapy issue /bcb copy. I liked the simplicity of these and the fact they were pretty good at heat retention for 300ml. Don't know if they have gone downhill in recent years though. Bought a couple of LV ones recently and will report back in due course.

I'll give klean canteen a look. Wasnt aware of them before. Cheers.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

The newer contigo are far far easier to clean, however the kleancanteen ones as the name suggests are superb because the lid strips down completely in 5 seconds and goes back together again too. Well worth a look

I've been surfing klean kanteens for the past fifteen minutes and have been licking my computer screen in anticipation.
Ive remembered i have seen them before but wrote them off as too good to be true, the best looking flasks are rarely the good performers
But really like the look of the mid size wide neck flask with the new style cap. Think i might pull the trigger on one of those bad boys.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Whilst on the general subject - Chilly's water bottles - any good?

I've always used Sigg water bottlers (with the insulating jackets) but the Chilly's do get good reviews.

I've got a few of them in different sizes and they're very hard to find fault with now, the new style cap is out the old style leaked. I'd put them on par with zjorushi and easier to clean, the only negative is they're not one hand opening or should I say not easy one hand opening. Try one I'm sure you'll be as impressed as I was.
I'm also grateful there another weirdo like me out there with a penchant for flasks and thermal mugs lol

Are these easy to break down and clean thoroughly as most flasks I’ve bought in the past are a bugger to clean thoroughly.
    Cheers.

Yep you can do that, I've got it with one hand now flicking the mechanism as I pick it up with my index finger.

Flask collections and yes perhaps in outdoor action settings and landscapes. You can stuff the kittens though.

I’m not taking the piss, it’s important man kit like pen knives, wallets, axes. I’m interested. I guess I could Google, but I could also Google watches, brogues and boots.

Just a quick heads up if anyone is interested... I was in my local tkmaxx this week and they had some really nice looking Sigg insulated bottles... I could not resist... They have a little removable nest insert that acts as an infuser /strainer.. Really good value for 8 quid
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
