    Zenith Cairelli Tipo in Bronze

Following on from the Oris Carl Brashear Chrono, according to the Timeless Luxury Watches instagram account Zenith are launching a bronze version of their Cairelli Tipo (plus apparently an aged steel version). Love that this one has a display case back.

The Zenith is lovely but will probably be twice the price of the Oris.

That’s a lovely watch in stainless steel, but in bronze it looks pretty awful to me. Sorry.

Better would be the same watch at 42mm. It's a lovely watch in steel, but just a bit too big. Mind you, the original was a big watch. Bronze and 'aged' does nothing for me.

Looks similar to Breitling black steel.

    Just this, or even 40mm.

Seems like this has been upgraded from the previous reissue to a fly back chronograph too

I have the Tipo CP - 2 and love it (Ben will know this).

It’s 43mm yes and I am used to a 40mm but I don’t think it’s too big if your size range is 40-42mm. Smaller than that leave it alone.

If I am honest I would have loved an open case back to show off that lovely El Primero Calibre 4069 but given its a revival of a 1960’s military pilots watch it would not be true to the original. The modern touches for me are subtle (automatic movement as opposed to manual wind and the sapphire glass to name a couple), but enough to give the watch its own identity.

I don’t like it when they try to age watches, lume etc so I think the SS version hits it square in the head - unless of course you can find and afford an original.

Left outside the factory and regularly urinated on by passing workers. BMW M division used to do the same with their engine blocks I believe.

    This.
They got it right first time.
It was a success, so now they have decided to cash in by doing it differently (for me this = not quite so right).
The size is correct to the original, the only change being that the sub-dials get a tad closer to the central pinion than the original did.
I still regret that I didn't buy Ben's one, very good value.

Stunning. They do make the best dials at their price point IMHO.
