I imagine that there are many many people who wouldn't know what you were talking about if you said PP, AP etc. Rolex is a brand known around the world regardless of interest, just like Ferarri, due to their incredible marketing. The other brands can't even begin to compare when it comes to brand awareness. I had certainly never heard of any of those brands until I got into watches.

When I first joined a watch forum I had never heard of Patek. Casio and Seiko, obviously. Omega and Longines, only from sports sponsorship / timing, e.g. Olympics, Ski Sunday. I had never seen a photo of any of the famous Genta designs, but recognised Panerai, I think

Same. Just great to see watches we know so well and she was completely innocent. Joy to watch.

I have only 1 child, a daughter, and I hope one day she might have a similar experience.

Nice Rolex. If it were me I'd sell the rest and buy something nice instead.

No chance - stick it back in a box and let her kids make the same discovery in 40 years!!

(Although is actually keep the Blancpain to wear...)
