De mortuis nil nisi bonum?
Predator and hypocrite in one. Good riddance!

Not a fan, but his case was up for appeal, so I guess there must have been something to consider in that respect.
Still you can speak ill of the dead with impunity.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
At times like these we should reflect on our own lives and focus on how we can make the world a better place in our own small ways.
Concentrating on the faults of others achieves little.
1) Anyone's case can go to appeal - especially if you are wealthy.
2) In practical terms you can do the same with the living - unless they are wealthy or powerful. However in this case, even if he was still alive, it would be difficult for notorious convicted sexual predator Max Clifford to win any libel case given that such cases generally rest on a damage to reputation. Convicted nonces have a hard time convicting a judge that they have a reputation to damage...
"don't sexually assault children" seems a fairly low bar to hit...
I remember reading about him long before the height of his fame and subsequent downfall. His commitment to his disabled daughter was admirable.
I presume now he has died the appeal won't go ahead so we will never know what its outcome would have been...
According to a media report Mr. Clifford would probably have lost his appeal because of the overwhelming evidence against him.
The real tragedy in this case are the people who might have claimed damages against him
I have a bit of sympathy for all those the media, then the courts went after following the jimmy s bombshell as long as the other party was legal, but there is a special place in hell for maxi boy.......
You're probably right on all fronts, but we'll never know.
IF he'd won his appeal things might look quite different to a judge.
Ignore Clifford in this case, if you were convicted of something and someone said you were the scum of the earth and then you were acquìtted on appeal wouldn't you feel aggrieved?
I didn't like him before he was convicted, but no one deserves to die in prison convicted of something they didn't do, even people we don't like.
Which doesn't mean I think he was innocent...

Of course - but that's known as a 'argument to the future' - all sorts of things are possible in the future - as for today, he died a convicted sexual predator.
Of course not but that's weirdly specific hill to die on - "what if this nonce who had a fair trial in a mature justice system, somehow had a potential future appeal that somehow sort resulted in his innocence".I didn't like him before he was convicted, but no one deserves to die in prison convicted of something they didn't do, even people we don't like.
Removed as now irrelevant

Of course, but, and I agree it's not likely on balance, there are not infrequent cases of innocent people being jailed.
Our system is fair, but flawed (no more than others, probably less), and people do go to prison for things they didn't do.
I guess it just made me think of the broader scenario where someone innocent could die without clearing their name.
It's a cold sunday with nothing good on TV
