Suits it well, the stitching is a nice touch of detail.

Haha, yeah I know that feeling!

Got mine last night. First impressions are very good, nice weight to it and defiantly weighted a bit more noticeable than the Hamilton field kharki 38mm I just had on.

Also appears look bigger on the wrist than the Hamilton although I thought they were both suppose to be 38mm I believe . I really love the dial and the applied numerals and Seiko wording.

I'm going to change the strap asap although I like its colour and style. Now where did I put that spring bar tool :-)

  6. #106
Just changed the strap but think it may need a slightly darker brown?

Great quality. I normally have 40mm and 42mm watches so this is smaller than I'm used to. But again it is a very different look too. I'll certainly wear it as it is different to all I have. Screwdown crown means I can worry less about it too.

Reading through this thread again really makes my want another one.

However, I know that the AR issue will irritate me.

As I understand it, Harold sells them every now and then.

I have emailed him - will let you know what he says.

Google hasn't come up with any other likely sources.

Yobokies has an AR coated crystal but the picture is very poor. Hard to tell if it would improve the dial visibility. I asked for better pictures but he doesn’t have any. Crystal plus installing costs some which has held me back so far.

The pic (flat AR coated crystal)

Still has a “haze” over the green dial but this is a hard angle to see any dial clearly. Anyone have experience with yobokies AR coating on another watch?

Its such a beautiful dial that I think this is definitely worth a try.

Olive green NATO with fabric keeper. Amazon do a 20mm 4 pack including Black, French and one other for £10. Good enough quality and can use to decide if an upgrade to Zuluduver is warranted. The colour match is very good on the olive green with the alpinist. I have a green fabric 2 piece and suede 2 piece en route which I'll try next week too.

Thanks mangoosian, I have mine on a two piece zuludiver today with metal keepers. I seem to be hard on leather keepers as they are the first thing to go on my straps.

Being reading this forum for years but only just joined. I was inspired by this thread to give the Alpinist a good coat of looking at, reading various reviews etc. Result is I've just pulled the trigger and ordered one from the 'Irish' eBay seller. Looking forward to receiving it some time in January I guess.

Took the advice on here and ordered a Colareb Venezia Tobacco strap.

My collection is very small as I've sold most of what I've owned over many years, but recently obtained a Steinhart GMT-Ocean 1 Black Ceramic and for everyday use a Casio MDV-106-1A.

I dont think that the seller in Ireland will be able to deliver before the 4th Jan if you have ordered it today.

All my previous ones have worn well on a Hirsch Duke - lovely straps for the money.

You won't be disappointed, I'm chuffed with mine - see picture directly below for how good it looks. I'd also say it has the advantage of being a unique watch in the UK - but you're about the 5th or 6th person on this thread who's announced he's ordered one! Soon they'll be more commonly seen than the Apple Watch!

Not too fussed about the delivery date as long as it DOES arrive I'll be happy.

Just checked the tracking on eBay and it appears it may be out for delivery today, which if true is fantastic service from the seller and a nice Christmas present for me😄, I’ll report back later.

It arrived a couple of hours ago

Straight on to a Hirsch Duke

The AR issue is exactly as I recall - hopefully the d/d crystal will land soon - this will be the deciding factor as to whether this is a keeper or not

Great shot. Catches the dial in all its glory. Really looking forward to the impact of the crystal.

Each to their own, but I think this watch is pretty ugly. It's got too many things going on that clash.

Couldn't disagree more. I get what you're saying ie silver case, green dial & gold markers, but I think it's done very stylishly and it all compliments itself very well. There's a lot going on on the dial, yet there's still plenty of empty space to give enough minimalism to show off the very eye catching green sunburst effect. I've had a lot of comments and compliments on mine, it's very different to the usual types of watches you see.

But as you rightly say, each to their own. Taste is a subjective thing.

Couldn’t agree more, much better in the flesh than the pictures.

I was going to say the same, most of the photo's I've seen do not do this watch justice. I too have had a lot of complaints on it too. My wife really likes it so much so she had me looking to see if there was a ladies version.
