Thread: Harrods green black bay

  1. #51
Seems to be somewhat mixed information on if it's a limited edition and if/when available. Just spoke to Harrods and left my details and was promised a call back in a couple of days to advise when and if they would be available.

I like this a lot MORE than the green subs, actually!

Kermit? Hulk? Strictly for the kids, I'd say.

This is, at least, a little (er hummm) more subtle...

Do I think Tudor is diluting the BB? Absolutely. Does it have anything to due with a department store LE? Not at all.

This is a fun little novelty watch. What's more troubling is when 70% of tudor's trade show fodder is some not particularly great BB derivative.

Like this a lot, nice and subtle.
Don’t care for Harrods on the rear though.

Can I be the first to suggest an infantile nickname for this edition - the packer.

After the eponymous NFL side, the Green Bay Submariners*.

Oh dear, can't see these catching on.

    What about the Limey?

A reference to the bezel colour, and the proprietor of Harrod's previous role as a grocer.*

What about the Tudor ‘Vert’ as we already have a ‘Noir’ and it’s considered cool to name things in French these days?

    Harrods green black bay

Apparently the original release was of 100 as a limited edition. That looks like it has now extended to 175 to cater for the demand by ‘known’ buyers loyal to Harrods.
There’s a suggestion that it might be released yearly or indeed become regular production both of which will meet with positive and negative responses.
It’s a lovely looking watch and as with all things when Tudor / Rolex designed this piece they already knew the colour schemes they would use and have saved the best till last with this the bronze and one other (TBC)!!
Regardless of colour you will struggle to get a better bang for buck luxury watch and the success of the current range is testimony to that. Rolex can’t do limited editions so playing this out through Tudor scratches that itch. As a ltd ed it will do well and ignite interest in this brand but if mass produced it will be another Bay albeit a very nice one. For now

I like the bezel colour but I'm not too keen on the BB off black dial colour. This is something that has stopped me from purchasing the bronze also

^My Lord, we've had the Kermit.

    And the Hulk.

And now we have the Percy.

(Or the Generic Kermit. Or the Pistachio. Kerry's suggestion might incur the wrath of the Tudor PR team.)

Mind you, it would be amusing if the Fugger caught on.

I for one really like it and has now drawn me back to the BB or SMPc dilemma.

However I do think this ltd edition Tudor Black Bay is the best yet https://www.ablogtowatch.com/tudor-h...n-watch-italy/

I spent quite a while looking at the back, thinking it was nice that there was no Harrods logo, before I noticed the large stylised H in the middle... doh.

As with the Lotus Elise Harrods edition, I quite like the colour scheme; it's the association with Harrods which puts me off. At least there's no lingering Princess Di association now.

I quite like the Harrods livery - reminds me of the racing McLaren F1 GTRs.

    Harrods green black bay

I can’t wear a watch without a date (believe me, I’ve tried!) but can still appreciate a nice looking example. I tried on a stainless steel bezel model black bay last week (has date) but found it made the slabby sides even more... slabbier.
I like really the colour of this one though. Love em or loathe em, Tudor are bringing out some interesting stuff at the moment.

  34. #84
I was in Harrods earlier today. The fine watch room is a mess due to building/remodelling, there's only about half the normal amount of stuff on display. Don't bother going in the mean time is my advice.

There were some Tudors out, no Harrods special though. I quite liked the colour from the posted article so was interested in having a look. The numpty on the counter said they were all sold out already, before they've even got the stock in.

    Cheers,

    Plug

Just spoke to Harrods as I love this version. The helpful guy said that people have been going nuts over this watch; original 100 sold, a second batch of 400 reserved with me now at 850 on the waiting list. From the sound of his voice I suspect Tudor will produce some more (I asked him to persuade Tudor to manufacture an additional 3,000 watches so that we all could get our hands on one and it remain somewhat exclusive!) 👍😊 Won’t hold my breath though as he confirmed it was highly likely to be a long wait 😕

It’s all sold out. I received a call from a Harrods manager 2 months ago whether i wanted to reserve one. But even at that point many of the numbers i wanted were already sold out. I got some random number in the end but not complaining!

Why produce it in such limited numbers and hack off a small army of would-be Tudor BBG customers? Doesn’t make sense.

I hate to admit it -as I've thought most Harrod's tie-ins have been pretty 'blah'- but this one looks rather good 😎👍 However I think I'll wait for Patek to return to the royal grocers and snap up a green Nautilus....bound to happen 🤔

Yes, but what number of watches were all sold? I was around the 110th enquiry apparently GDI, so maybe I’ve missed out, or maybe I’ll just make it if some drop out. Fingers crossed.

Completely agree here. IMO Green is just a strange choice of colour for a watch.

I’d rather have the choice than not have it. But it reminds me of the early green on the 2003 Sub LV.

In a year or so you'll be able to go onto Tudors website and be able to build whatever mix and match of bezel, dial, hand and lime colours you want as they'll have done the complete spectrum of colours.

    Not liking this.

Loved the first red one, not liked any other colour they've released since.
