    60th Birthday Pressie.

    Alright chaps.

It's my mates Dads 60th on the 26th and he just asked me for some advice on a watch for him. Budget of about £800, but obviously dont have to go that far if theres a bargain out there for less.

From a bit of questioning he seems to like the idea of an auto, dressy diver style, around the 42mm mark, on bracelet rather than strap.

Anyone have any suggestions or seen any bargains around? Pre owned is fine too but would really need to be of the "unmarked" variety considering it's a gift.

    Thanks in advance,
    Eddie.

Longines Hydroconquest; pretty much unbeatable as an all round dress/diver at this price point (im over 60 and i would happily wear one)

Seiko Shogun? Seems to fit into what you require.

Longines Hydroconquest would be my other choice.

Not sure how much the longines heritage divers are?

You could take a look at the Glycine Combat Sub 42 range. Wide variety of choice and you can get a Swiss made automatic with ETA 2824-2 and sapphire crystal for about £550 new.

Alpine would be worth looking at, I particularly like AL-525NS5AQ6B List price is above your budget but discounts aren't hard to find.

Should just about be able to get a pre loved Longines legend diver for that sort of money, or maybe Oris Diver 65?

Good choices. Both on the smarter, (dressier), side of divers.

Edited to say that there's a rather nice Oris 65 on Sales Corner right now. Lovely watch.

    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

Some of the Longines Sport Conquests are very nice as well, the Hydroconquest is very much a chunky diver.

Oris Diver 65 with bracelet on SC for £950. Ticks all the boxes imo. If I had some spare cash right now I'd snap it up myself but Xmas beckons...

Another vote for Longines Hydroconquest. First thing that came to mind when I see your budget

    Steinhart

Do some nice 'divers', ranging from about £300-£500'ish.

I recommended a Steinhart to him at the start and even though he wanted to spend a bit more he cant seem to look past an Ocean One.

Thanks for all your help guys.
