    Carry on bitching....

In the meantime I’ll give thanks that Tito, is on the mend.... apparently he severed his femoral artery and was within minutes of bleeding to death at the trackside..

Well done to the British medics, Marshall’s and Hospital staff that saved a young mans life, and best wishes to Tito for a quick recovery..

Qatar a few years ago when it rained and was too dangerous to race due to the reflections from all the lights. They held it the following day at a cost of over Ł5m but it simply wasn't feasible this time.

I don't think Mr Ecclestone has much influence in F1 these days.

The first full round cancellation in 38 years, since the 1980 Austria round was called off due to snow.

Seeing that picture my first thought was "what...multiple fractures and no cast?" I suppose that whatever metal they inserted is doing the alignment job and the walking frame is relieving the load. I'm still impressed by the lack of external support:

He's scheduled to move to Barcelona tomorrow and they'll make a full assessment for his rehabilitation.

    Cool Experts

The Spanish sports channel had the MotoGP slot and filled it with experts from all related fields commenting.
From Dennis Noyes, Ruben Xauss to the engineer responsible for resurfacing the Valencia track and some more in between.
There was even a report produced that stated this problem with the two largest probklem areas.
Basically the unanimous conclusion was; epic fail of the circuit.
It will no doubt be sorted by lawyers and meanwhile we can all decide for ourselves who has the egg on the face.

Misano...really enjoyed the M3 race. Fenati has been a very naughty boy in M2...a quite unbelievable thing to do.

Let's see what the main event brings...

    Fenati

Ok Moto 2.... Fenati reaching over and grabbing the brake lever on Manzi’s bike.

Absolutely outrageous behaviour. This guy has a history of being a hothead, and I’d suggest he needs removing from the championship permanently....

    Never seen anything like it...

I'd suggest he needs a good kicking around the back of the paddock for that, then removed from the championship. Unfortunately Race Direction don't share the same view as they've just handed him a two race ban.

The incident for those that missed it -

Fenatis behaviour and actions just beyond staggering

Imagine if he had caused a high Sider and killed or injured Manzi just wow

Being an older fan I recall Wayne Rainey’s accident and Simmoncellis and the end results this could have been the same

2 race ban ! If I was any of the other riders I would refuse to take to the grid with him ever again.

Rossi fired him off his feeder programme for unacceptable behaviour.......

    Permanent ban.

Should have been banned for the rest of the season, and warned than a further transgression would lead to a lifetime ban!

I wonder if he got the idea from Niccolň Canepa?

If he'd even heard about that incident, he'd have to know what could happen.

That case resulted in injury and went to court...link.

Good... riders like him just aren’t needed. That’s twice he’s been sacked from good teams.

The question now is, will he get a ride next year? He was supposed to be riding for the same team that Manzi is in.

Stupidity, but I'm glad the team sacked him - as a two race ban seems completely the wrong message. He is undoubtedly a good rider, but may have thrown away his whole career now.

His only saving grace it that he didn't shrink from taking the blame:

"I apologise to the whole sports world. This morning, with a clear mind, I wish it had been just a bad dream," he said.

"I think back to those moments, I made a disgraceful gesture, I was not a man.

"The criticisms are correct and I understand the resentment towards me. I want to apologise to everyone who believed in me and all those who felt hurt by my actions."

    That, and his talent.

He didn't, although others might have included some sort of 'but' or 'because' qualifications.

    Kinda irrelevant now.
No team with even half a brain is going to give him a seat.
Also, there isn't a sponsor on the planet that would want to be associated either.

He’s been called up to face the FIM, but he’s also announced he’s done with bike racing and he’s going back to school.

Let’s hope they teach him some restraint..

    Link:

Romano Fenati has been summoned by the FIM to its HQ in Switzerland to clarify the 'Misano affair’, but there is one important fact missing from the summons: the date.

It is not even clear why the International Federation has summoned him, considering that the decision to disqualify him for the next two races was take by the federal judges at Misano.

Whatever decision the FIM makes, whether positive or negative, it will equate to a ‘diminution' of its own officials.

    ...

    And...by way of a reminder...link:

A MotoGP statement read: "At Misano, Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers) was shown the Black Flag and disqualified from the Moto2 race for irresponsible riding after an incident between the Italian and compatriot Stefano Manzi (Forward Racing Team).

"The FIM MotoGP stewards decided to suspend Fenati from the next two Grands Prix following the offence, deemed serious. The penalty applies to the rider only, not the team - leaving the door open for a replacement to race."

Fenati appeared to be reacting to an earlier incident between the pair, which saw Manzi run the Italian off the track as he overtook him. Mazni received a penalty of his own for the initial clash, and he will be hit with a six-place grid penalty at Aragon next time out for "irresponsible riding".

    Plus an update...link:

Having initially apologised for his action, Fenati has now issued a second statement to confirm he will not seek any further opportunities in motorcycling, and claimed that Manzi was to blame for his reaction as he rode into him “three times” that left a black strip on his leathers and helmet from making contact with his tyres.

    Speaking to Italian newspaper
La Repubblica, Fenati said: “I’m finished with the motorcycle world, I will not run again. I was wrong, it’s true: I apologise to everyone.”

But he added: “Do you want to see my helmet and my leathers? There is a long black strip, the Manzi rubber. He attacked me three times and he could have killed me too, as you say. The last time I had it done to me was 500m before (his incident), then I thought ‘now I do the same, I’ll show you that I can be bad’ and maybe you will finally understand what it means.

“But I never thought to hurt him, I swear.”

^^^^ I caught up with Dan and his family at Oulton last week, his younger brother is doing the UK Moto 3 championship and Dan had a wildcard.... both of them crashed in practice on the same corner on the same outlap...

No injuries and not much damage, but their Dad wasn’t best pleased....

Fenati set to make Grand Prix return in 2019

Romano Fenati will return to track action in 2019 as he teams back up with the Snipers Team, lining up alongside Tony Arbolino in their Moto3™ setup.

The Italian was sacked by the Snipers Team and had his racing license taken off him for the remainder of the 2018 season after an incident in the Moto2™ San Marino Grand Prix. Now, the 22-year-old looks likely to return to the Grand Prix paddock in the lightweight class, a category he has claimed 23 podiums in – 10 of those being race wins.

Although there is yet to be an official announcement, we can expect confirmation of the news in the near future.

Fenati will be "starting from zero"

Fenati, once a protege of MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, made headlines when he attempted to grab rival Stefano Manzi's brake lever during a Moto2 race in a moment of anger.

He was swiftly cut from Marinelli Snipers' Moto2 squad and his 2019 contract with MV Agusta in the same series was likewise terminated – before his FIM licence was withdrawn for the remainder of the year.

However, while his career initially looked to be damaged irreparably, the 22-year-old Italian was linked to a return to the grand prix paddock soon enough.

MV Agusta was thought to have considered reinstating his deal – only to hire Dominique Aegerter instead – before Marinelli Snipers made the call to bring him back into the fold alongside Tony Arbolino.

Quizzed on the logic of Fenati returning to Moto3 rather than continuing in the intermediate class, Marinelli Snipers tech chief Mirko Cecchini said: “It's like, he would like to start from zero.

"This is a new life for him, and okay, he did a mistake, a big mistake, but I think that the media have made bigger than what he was deserving...
