That looks lovely. The taper is perfect for that style.

I’ve always thought that sailcloth type straps suit the LLD, after all it was ‘issued’ with one when new. However Watchgecko have recently released a new updated one called the ‘’Mayday’ which has my preferred 4mm taper and comes in various colours. It’s much more supple than the last iteration.

Thanks! Now I switched to beads of rice. I always wanted a watch on BOR bracelet and decided to buy Forster for Bambino. I think that 18mm width suits this case very well and the case also has brushed and polished parts.

The perfect strap - watch combination THREAD

I cannot make my mind up on what to keep this Seiko ’Ashtray’ on. I’’m not suggesting that any of my three choices pictured are perfect, but these are the ones I seem to have narrowed it down to, so thought this would be the right place to ask for opinions.…

First up is a Nato in steel grey, although there is definitely a slight greenish tinge to it……

Next is an Uncle Seiko, that was on the watch when I got it……

And finally, a titanium mesh that I splashed out on thinking it would be perfect for the watch, but now I’m not sure it is, aesthetically, albeit that it is supremely comfortable and makes the combination weigh virtually nothing……

    Any/All opinions appreciated.

I think all three work but my order of preference would be rubber, nato, mesh

    OK, here we go.

Google Image Search Seiko Pogue and you will not find a single pic of one on leather. Why? Because it's not a great look. It deserves (if vintage) a rattley old bracelet, or (if new) OEM bracelet or NATO.

If you must have a leather strap on the watch, then

    a) don't pick a yellow-ish leather that is close, but not close enough, to the dial colour.
    b) don't go for a matte finish. If you must try a rally strap, try a darker brown polished leather.
    c) the parallel strap overpowers the watch. You need a taper.

I am tempted to say that you know all this, as you've clearly not worn the watch on that strap, to judge by the lack of wear! (Maybe it's a brand new fitment.)

I am willing to put my money where my mouth is and send you a better leather strap for the watch, if you agree to post the pics! PM me if you are interested!

With Quatar-wol exercised by the last offering it might be a risk offering something up but I think this is pretty much a perfect pairing. The AM can take a lot of straps but this one is almost the perfect match for the hands and even has a bit of a sheen to it.

Fits me perfectly and is a daily wear, thus the daily wear.

    10yrs and going strong.

I switch back to the Oyster in the winter months for variety

Great points..I agree about the taper, once it was on it looked weird and haven’t worn it.

Had a previous pogue and had it on a vintage brown

    Will look at other options.

    Appreciate the response

In the interests of forum harmony, I've reached out to DeepThought and offered a better strap for his new Pogue. Anyone who chooses a HHGTTG user name can't be all bad!

    :)

I’m loving the Marnaut. 20mm lugs on tonneau case shape and that dial takes every colour and strap. Love this combo

My ex watch. This came on the counterloop strap or B-uhr pilot strap, custom made by leather craftsman. All the keepers were made by hand (soldering/brazing). Watch was 3 piece project; Ickler case and Hamilton 317 hand pocket movement from 1936.

I hope the colleague on tz-uk is still enjoying wearing this :)

That's a Haveston canvas isn't it, Sanj? I've got a couple and they're great straps. I wore one out.

The perfect strap - watch combination THREAD

    Oki Doki

Few weeks ago I uploaded a pic of my SpeedTimer Pogue on a new strap

Received some comments and a few suggestions.

On the back of that Qatar-wol offered to source and purchase for me (FOC) a new strap that would better suit the watch.

If arrived today and have to say it’s stunning , the color, thickness and taper suit the watch far better. The old strap was too bright and thick and overpowered the watch dial.

It’s far more comfortable to wear now.

So many many thanks to W for his advice and kindness on getting the strap to me ( it was a struggle for him due to customs but he perceived and won in the end)

    Pics of new strap attached

For anyone asking, the new one is by Dassari

Thank you for posting! It was a struggle as I had to buy the strap online, and couldn't see it before buying! Now, I think it's a bit... mustardy? But please wear it, and put some patina on it, and let us know how it holds up!

Seldom have I seen a better match than this Gekota strap on a Bulova Accutron II. The black & orange on the dial is complemented almost exactly by the colours of the strap.

Coincidentally, I see that an extremely generous (and boyishly good-looking) TZ member has one identical to this up for auction in aid of Children in Need, on SC.

    Extremely identical in fact......

And that is the most important thing, of course! This thread is the only place where I allow myself to be catty and rude here.

Just to re-establish my credentials as a critical, here - a new arrival Ultra-Chron on an EO.
