Thread: The perfect strap - watch combination THREAD

Yeah, I agree - I started to be rude about some a while back in the thread, but it's a poor sport, and not helpful.

Often, it's a great watch, and a great strap, but a poor pairing. But if you can't say anything nice... :)

I like this thread, and there's some stunning combos in it, but its title should be

"My Latest Watch Strap, Hit, or Trip To Barnard Castle?".

I think anything that overpowers the watch head is a poor combination.
Overly thick, parallel cut leather straps on standard watches is something I just don’t get, on a Panerai they can look great, most others they don’t. Same for colours that clash with the face colour. e.g. black dial with a tan/ light brown strap.
Still I know nothing about good taste.

  4. #1654
Most OEM Panerai straps are 24/22, and not too chubby. That's the way to go. I usually wear 24/24 Dirk's, and again, not too thick. But the strap arms race led to some chunky monkeys!

  5. #1655
Remove ‘prefect’ from the thread title and all will be well.

I know two tone is a polarising style choice for many but I just love it on the Alpinist

I love this watch but since it arrived on a VERY shiny navy croc strap ive been on a mission to make it as casual as I am.
While I was pondering options I came across a burgundy bulang on eBay and thought that even though its not a colour I would usually go for it might look quite warm with a blue dial as I tend to go for cooler colours generally.
Anyway, I think its very successful, although I foresee it being on a more muted colour soon enough as some a grey suede plonked through the letterbox this morning.

^IMO a light tan strap would suit that nicely. Suede perhaps.

This shouldn’t work and doesn’t in the photos but I really like it in the flesh:

My fkm fluoro waffle rubber from aliexpress is the same as watchgecko or strapcode (49.99$). Only it costs 7.99$. Interesting, the other models are also the same. Looks like watchgecko and strapcode have a good profit on these...

Look at the finish along the edge of the yellow version, really rough compared to the black. Not the same at all!

Silicone 2-tone on Damasko DC80 today - very comfy and nicely made, and the quick-release clips are appreciated.

Finally found a nice genuine 16mm Hamilton buckle for the Hirsch which now completes my KPPM

New 16mm left, old 18mm right that came on the stock 18mm NATO which I never liked. If anyone is interested in the Canvas strap with the 18mm buckle let me know.

No, I bought it quite a while ago along with a blue version but can't remember where. Sorry.

I think this works pretty nicely with the bezel. Cheapy "vintage blue" strap from Gekota.

857 UTC on Watchgeko Zuludiver rubber nato. Brushed hardware is a good match to the case and slightly matt finish on the strap works well with the dial. Smells nice too.

I had three new straps arrive yesterday, all with a watch in mind

I think this one works well, a buffalo rally strap. It’s a nice counter to the shark skin I wear on my other 903.

I think this one also works well, a grey rally but in cow hide this time

I am not sure about this one, it’s a plastic / rubber type strap, I want something different to the Bund on my Heuer Bund, I am more than happy for suggestions on what people think would look good on this one?

I must say I have never seen you posting a watch I don't like to be honest, these two sinn are stunners! I have seen part of your collection on an SOTC thread, impressive!

Not a very original suggestion I suppose but I think a canvas strap of similar colour would pair perfectly with your sinn!
This strap is nice but the texture looks a bit odd imho

Love the black rallye on the 903!

The green strap was (I thought) a rubberised canvas when I ordered it. I think a green canvas will be the way to go.
