My love / hate relationship with the Speedmaster continues. Well hate's a bit much, but I decided a little while ago after owning a few different versions that the case size is just a little too large for my preference. Especially on the original bracelet for this - a 2019 311.30.42.30.01.005 - which extends the lug-to-lug even more due to the shape of the end links.

So this one was firmly on the block, but I couldn't resist trying it on a grey rubber, and I kind of like it.

Predictable - but I really like this combo...

... but the speedy looks good on most straps, so it’s taken me 18 months to try this on it...

    Perfecto!

  15. #1565
Ok, I know it’s a bracelet, not a strap but this strapcode is great.

It’s substantially better-made than the stock single link oyster and compliments the watch’s modern-retro look. The only criticism that I’ve seen these get is that the centre link protrudes further than the watch but because its lug to lug is so short, it really isn’t an issue.

    I really like that!
That's also the first picture I see of this bb chrono showing properly that it's not a polar white dial.
    Very cool!

Been playing about with a few different straps on the newly acquired BB58 Blue, a black rubber, a brown Horween and a blue canvas and leather. Not sure they all (if any!) work?

Not much choice available for the North Flag. Got it on the Pelagos rubber strap which I think looks pretty good & will probably be staying on for the summer

Still think this Nick Mankey strap is the best pairing for my Landmaster.

Copy pasted from my ph reply but as it's relevant for this thread... :)

I bought a Hirsch PURE natural rubber strap from a watch strap shop online (Germany based). They seemed to be the only place that had limited stock of this strap in 18mm with green colour, nobody else on the internet had this combo... I assumed I was ordering the small size which is standard and perfect for my wrist size but it was actually the L size so a little too big I found when it arrived for watches on my wrist that have a lug to lug length larger than 44mm.

Intending to sell it I figured I'd try it on the Hamilton Pilot and the shorter lug to lug meant it wore absolutely just right so now I have a new fav strap for this watch lol. The slight curve on the top surface at the lugs, the thickness and the colour just make the otherwise 36mm watch case looka little more sizeable and the colour suits the British Military aesthetic.

That dial texture in the sun is just

Looks good. The UPS delivery man had one of those on and he seemed a little taken aback when I noticed it. It was on a NATO.

  31. #1581
That's pretty cool lol, was he surprised you recognised the watch or taken aback as in not wanting anyone to recognise it?

Hard to tell really, he seemed a little shy but think he was pleased I noticed. He told me it was 'the mechanical one' and was obviously proud of it. I have to say it looked great, I've always liked the design myself.

Commenting on other people's watches is always a slightly strange affair - blokes aren't used to compliments and you never quite know if the wearer is a watch fan or not (especially so if they're wearing a Rolex, often the conversation is very much one way). Someone wearing a Hamilton Khaki through I am willing to bet is an enthusiast to some degree.

  33. #1583
I think you're right, there are loads of watches out there that are conscious decision watches as opposed to say a Sub or SMP because they are insanely popular and as such easily recognised generally.

But on the flipside there are models that are conscious decisions too, like the Tudor Pelagos. I'd bet someone wearing one of those will be a watch person vs the now diluted market of say a Black Bay 58. I find it interesting how these things work out!

  34. #1584
There’s a guy at work who wears a seamaster 2254/2264. I always want to speak to him about it but conscious I’ll come across like a weirdo!

Is this the equivalent to double denim?

  37. #1587
I think this combo deserves to be in here (imho). Wore it yesterday and today for the first in a while. Makes a nice little summer ‘beater’.

i am liking my homebuilt Tuna on a cousins rubber..

  41. #1591
That is rather cool! Is it copper/bronze btw?

I have put another Hirsch on a new watch, think these rubber straps go well with many watches. The black colour is lightly textured that looks rather great.

I love that taupe-ish colour would like to try something similar on my BB58 - can you share the source?

    That’s a very satisfying look. I assume it’s the 36mm?
It looks spot on I think.

So have you re-cased an existing Stowa, or is this a fake watch?

Apologies! As charged officer. The Stowa is lovely BTW, and I'm not usually much of a fan of bronze.
