Cool ‘Predator’ - 30th Anniversary screening!

Going to watch this at the cinema tonight! Can’t wait. :) Nostalgia overload.

I’ve seen it loads of times of course (first time at the cinema 30 years ago).

    Hello

    Get to the chopper!

  13. #13

It was on pretty much everywhere but one night only and only at 8pm I believe.

I really enjoyed it - pretty packed auditorium. Stood the test of time very well actually - a few pretty cheesy scenes early on, but it's VINTAGE ARNIE, so what do you expect?!

Took me back to my Uni days. :)

Can't believe I missed this, didn't even hear about it, surprised it was so quiet in here about it.

    Excellent.

There wasn't much publicity about it anywhere actually!

I go to the cinema quite a lot and just in passing saw a poster up last week in my local Cineworld. I should have posted a heads-up on TZ - sorry!

    'Come to painless'
great film when it was released. Had everything you wanted then. Guns, Arnie, action and a badass alien like we had never seen since....Alien. But great ideas with its stealth cloaking, laser targeting and a wrist-mount nuke!!! Never seen one of those on SC. Along with Aliens it set the standard for action/monster films

    ?

So the direct sequel to the first film by Shane ‘Hawkins’ Black is out next year . Gary ‘Keys’ Busey’s son is also in it along with Thomas ‘the punisher’ Jane . Not going to get my hopes up it will be not much more than Robert Rodriguez 2010 ‘Predators’. Which was basically a remake .

Sounds good to me. I enjoyed Predator 2, Predators and even the AVP films to one degree or another... but the first one has never been equaled!

Saw it last night at Harrow Vue, I was only 7 when the original movie came out and saw a bootleg copy the following year but that clicking/ticking sound that the Predator makes still gives me the heebie jeebies every time I watch it. One of my favourite movies of all time.

I also saw the the Terminator 2 3D re-master on August 29th which is the date that Skynet becomes self aware. I have to say I was highly impressed. I never got to watch the movie in the cinema because I was only 11 at the time. to get to watch it on the big screen in 3D was a real treat!.

A bit of useless information. Much of the jungle scenes were shot in Mexico at a place call Puerto Vallarta - which is where Liz Taylor and Richard Burton had houses.

    so now you know

I’ll have to be honest - although the first is a flat out unrivalled classic- I too enjoy all the others inc the avp versions . It’s always great to see the predators in action and their technology.

This is my wife’s most hated film. Gives her the creeps lol. I saw it on release when I was a student and still really rate it.

I watched this on new years eve when it had been released on video. I was about 12 years and as I wasn't going to a family party I got to pick 2 videos to watch from blockbuster. The other film I chose was Robocop. Greatest movie night of my life!

Probably my top two of all time. Followed by The Terminator.

I did know this, I'm off to PV in a couple of weeks :) There is a zip wire tour of the jungle canopy, and one of the original locations for Predator is on on the itinerary. I was going to do it anyway, but that's a bonus!

    More useless info.

Van Damme was originally going to play the Predator

Obligatory quote also "he's using the trees!"

    Another useless fact,

The helicopter pilot at the end is the actually the guy wearing the predator suit.

Also the original predator design costume worn by van Damme was quite different. I’m so glad they changed it

Predator, The Terminator, Alien, Bladerunner and the Bourne Identity. All these are favourites of mine and all are better than any sequels IMHO. Just classics.

The studio filming Predator hired a bodyguard to protect the other actors from Sonny Landham because he would throw a punch at the slightest provocation.

He was supposedly a nutter back in his day.

I think the second is underrated. AvP was pretty good as well. Requiem was awful. Predators was ok.

As as a film series, that’s pretty good going.

Requiem was awful but had some great parts of the predator homeworld which is just brilliant !
