I have my opinion which was factually correct at the time. It was gaining momentum and may have stopped or kept rising. Like many you purchased at a price then it went up so you made a decision as to whether you wanted to keep on buying or watched. I also supported and voiced its potential when it was £300 a coin and do regret not investing more but always maintained that you only put in what you are prepared to lose. No one forces your purchases it’s a decision / gamble you decide to take based on the information you interpret. To answer your question yes I did and still continue to buy this month.

Well, it can but I think it very very unlikely to ...

I’d be surprised if it went below $1k and more likely I’d say $2k-ish as the bottom?

Maybe, I don’t know, but I think there are too many die-hard believers about for it to go to actually zero. I suspect at $1k they would start buying in sufficient volumes to maintain that sort of price.

When it is at $1k, none of the remaining die-harders will have any cash because they already bought at 10k, 8k, 6k, 5k, 3k and then a lot more at 2k.

I meant the next resistance barrier on the way down, was a lot of resistance at 6k until it smashed through that.

Dont think it will ever hit zero as there will always be fanboys and some demand so perhaps somewhere between $10-$100 a coin.

Surely all the millions made from initiative q sign ups will be reinvested in Bitcoin to try and suport the price as it crashes!

Unfortunately, initiative Q only promises profits in the 100-160k bracket, not quite Lambo territory, is it?

I’ve cashed in my last BTC today. Loved the concept from 2 years ago, but now know that corporations would never let it succeed as it goes against their flow.

What's the quickest and easiest way of cashing in BTC?

Meant to do it a few months ago and I wish I had now.

I don’t, and never have, understood cryptocurrencies but this from the BBC coverage did chime with my thinking:

“What nobody seemed to reckon with was that if you could start one cryptocurrency you could start dozens and chaos might then ensue”

    Interesting.

In which sense are other currencies like GBP, EUR or Dollar not freely moving?
    What is a stand-alone currency?
Has Bitcoin ever claimed to be a currency?
How are traditional currencies tied to banks?
How can you pay any item or service with Bitcoin without using a bank?
Why would a currency appreciate against other currencies solely because it's being used as intended (for payment)?

It's still up 75000% on 12 months ago so your money is safe. As long as you bought for tuppence

100thmonkey, by his own posting record on TZ, just buys a few coins now and then for fun. It's just a fun thing for him to buy a few coins. Not taken too seriously. Therefore, presumably doesn't mind where bitcoin ends up because he's had fun along the way.

    What are you smoking?

12 months ago today, Bitcoin closed at $8,244 - hence it's down 48% over 12 months.

I'm poking fun at the people who chat nonsense about bitcoin. I read about bitcoin a fair bit in January this year. There were forums full of people talking up bitcoin and it's siblings like they were gurus on the subject. One guy would write quite passively aggressively. One minute it's all just a bit of fun, next minute he's talking about paying for his unborn grandchild's grandchild's 99th birthday celebrations in 300 years time with the gains he's made through bitcoin. Then the sheep start salivating and emptying their piggy banks. This type of 'investment' sure does require a steady supply of stupid people to keep the party going

FWIW, I don't know much about bitcoin and have not invested. I knew about it when it was $200. Had I invested in those days, it would have been a punt. There's no way bitcoin is worth so many times more than a couple of years ago. Sure, things are worth what people are willing to pay. But people are only paying because they think it'll be worth x50 in x years. Not because bitcoin has any meaningful utility to the common man.

another day, another massacre: $4,250, after hitting a low of $4,035 earlier tonight.

The chart below is actually updating every time you refresh the page - so you can watch it live. 4,185 now (three minutes after my above post)
