It's getting crazy now. Apparently Tether has received a ransom request and is under a DDOS attack.

Not sure what to think of this, doesn't really make sense to me.... Is this how they will explain to the world that the reserves are gone?

    BTC $18k.

    I have a $30k short on MSTR @ 5 X leverage I opened before the weekend.

Could be an enjoyable watch at 14:30 on Tuesday if this keeps up!

Thanks very much - kind offer. I may well do that, but it may be some time as I’m not getting involved until the dust has properly settled.

Does that mirror what the real stock price would do? Presumably a very different type of holder so would be hard to say that the real stock price would have done the same?

May have gone even lower if the BTC price dumped to $17,750 on a Tuesday, for example.

Great price to load the boat with MSTR!
    10X from here.

Yes, load the boat for chapter 11.

MSTR equity will be cancelled in the restructuring.

It has always crossed my mind that all a fraudulent company would need to do is fake a ransom note, encrypt it's servers and then pay a "ransom" in untraceable BTC and then either go bust or retire without paying taxes etc.

Still hopefully the ransomware people will also get wiped out as they probably can't turn their BTC ransoms back into dollars easily.

And considering the SEC are about 300 staff short of being able to put all the crypto crooks behind bars they'd probably get away with it

A tokenised stock is backed by one real share in custody. You can exchange one for the other.

So yes, this is exactly what the "real stock price" has done.

Is a bailout only a bailout if it's funded by taxpayer money? What if it's funded with a fraudulently inflated stablecoin?

Who owns the economic risk of this position going under? The clients of Binance?

I can't remember the last time when the New York stock exchange had to buy equities to stabilise the stock market, when was that again?

$2bn of BTC inflows onto Binance?….Yes. Binance themselves (CZ) buying $2bn with their own money to prop up the market…..no.

CZ buying $2bn BTC with his own money because he’s a whale and thinks the bottom is in…..yes, possible.

Well they did add 101,266 BTC to their company wallet yesterday. Maybe they found them underneath the sofa?

If the coins were already on their own exchange, moving them into a different wallet would have no effect on the price.

    Where were they moved from?

If they bought them from customers on their own exchange it will have every effect on price.

If they bought them from customers, then yes, but they didn't. There was nowhere near $2bn of sell volume from customers over the weekend.

Anyway, another waste of time argument. I just hate it when people post misleading unverified “facts”.

And I’m directing that at FXhedge and the likes…..not you Raffe.

What? There was nowhere near $2bln volume on Binance?

Binance traded $35bln bitcoin over the past 24 hrs, over $50bln over the weekend.

Assets sometimes behave strangely after a very strong sell-off, you can see similar patterns in some of the beaten-down tech stocks (MSTR, CVNA, COIN). I share your sentiment, I remain short BTC here and am not too fussed about those moves.

There seems to be a bit of background noise at the moment pushing the 'Mayer Multiple'* as an analytic indicator for the current (and potentially future) value of bitcoin.

    https://studio.glassnode.com/workbench/mayer-multiple

I've never heard of it before and a quick google doesn't make me much wiser. Is this a popular/credible/useful/accurate analytic tool with relevance beyond the cryptoverse?

    * Purely in terms of alliterative quality, I find 'Bollinger Bands' much more pleasing.
