A lucky escape maybe, and a warning to anyone who leaves funds on an exchange

    Glad you’ve got out

    Good news.

Maybe it's nothing, but after a day like today it wouldn't be a surprise if some companies were in trouble, and sometimes those rumours just turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Agreed, I don’t imagine Terra Luna will be the only casualty of all this.

I still have long-term conviction about certain cryptos, but with so much other financial turbulence in the world atm that I just don’t understand, I think I’ll sit it out for a few weeks and see how it all plays out. Then get myself a hardware wallet before I join the circus again.

I’m retiring for the evening with a good whisky, now that I can still afford it. Good evening gents

With some possibly fortuitous timing, the JP Morgan Cryptocurrency Basket cases notes matured last week on their 'observation date' of the 2nd May. The initial pricing having been fixed just over a year ago on the 31st March 2021.

Over that period the constituent stocks had lost around 31% of their value. Taking fees and the 'basket charge' into account I would guess/estimate the loss increases to ~36%. As a reference point bitcoin dropped just under 35% over the same period.

However if the purchasers of the notes - always assuming there were any - have been ruing the day they handed over their hard earned, then they may be able to take some solace. The notional value on close of business yesterday evening would have been -47% excl and ~-52% inc.

Tether falling apart in slow motion, $0.9860 as we speak. This has the potential for proper nuclear meltdown.

Meanwhile, most shit coins and Defi down another 20% versus yesterday. But apparently that is business as usual, I was told.

I feel for the people who have lost fortunes on this, luna from £60+ to 0 in a few days and everything else tanking is going to hurt.

Could always use Coinomi on your phone - it’s non-custodial and supports most coins.

Can one of the illuminati please explain to me what this means?

    https://twitter.com/Tether_to/status...52531170881537

It sparked a rally from the low of $0.92 to above $0.97 - is that just because they showed a sign of life or is this a meaningful development?

From Twitter, so don't shoot the messenger..

They're swapping chains to ward off a similar attack which pulled LUNAs pants down

Yeah, but it's not about which chain, it is about the quality of their collateral.

For years they promised to release an audit, me thinks it won't be more than days until they have to show the money or face carnage.

Is there any chance Luna could recover from this? Tempted to buy a small amount on the off chance it goes back to its £50+ price.

They have lost 99.83% of value this year

Gambling on that 0.17% seems madness to me

Very little chance, but who knows

At 10c a pop, it might be worth a (small) punt, but a punt is what it would be

Yes, sure it happens all the time that popped bubbles re-inflate 500x just because somebody wants to turn £50 into £25,000.

Why not invest £2,000 and become a millionaire?

    Well, as it happens..

In 2011 Bitcoin fell by 99% to 1c briefly, if you'd invested £2000 then it would be worth cazillions today (can't be arsed working it out)

In 2013 Bitcoin fell by 80% to $50, if you'd invested £2000 then it would be worth just shy of £1m

    Cheers, I'll look into it.

My main money is in Cardano and ETH and stored on Coinbase Pro, I have a few hundred in others like Telcoin/Vechain/Polkadot/Theta etc, I might buy a Nano S and just transfer the ADA and ETH or buy the X and just transfer the lot to the freezer?

They didn't have anything of the overhang that is in LUNA. And didn't fall by the 99.9% that LUNA is down.

Meantime, the next 'stable coin' has popped: Neutrino at $0.75

The advantage of Coinomi is it will take a few minutes (if that) to set up and will allow you to move coins off the exchange. You can always move them again later when you have a Ledger or Trezor or whatever you prefer to use.

ADA being one of my main holdings does not look like a native coin on Coinomi, I think there is workarounds but rather than risk/mess it up maybe going straight to a cold wallet may be better..

Wish I’d had a punt at something years ago when this thread kicked off. Friend of a friend did very well & currently in his Caribbean house with another new super yacht amongst other properties etc.

If I could understand all the shorting Ralf is up to, it seems the way but am just too far out of my depth & too busy to learn a new skill.

I don't have a big game plan, but for the time being not inclined to touch it. It's fine as it is, might sell a bit more if we rally from here.

In the wake of the Luna disaster, a couple of extra frauds. Everything working as it's designed.

Nice little bounce for Bitcoin this morning

I’d expected a few weeks below 30k, maybe even below 25k given all the drama around LUNA etc
