Wow, what an implosion. Still very surprised that other crypto seem to be almost unaffected.

Goodbye Luna, it was nice knowing you.

Does liquidation mean they have sold their stake of the crypto listed or is liquidation in the business sense they have lost everything and taken nothing away with them?

Should anyone be interested in pursuing this further, the covenants for the loans appear to be documented (in full blown legalese) amongst the SEC filings which are freely available on the Investor Relations section of the MicroStrategy website. It is left as an exercise etc...

Personally I'm content to run with Raffe's assumption for the time being.

Seems like LUNA is just melting, losing another 45% to $16 in the last hours. UST also in free-fall again, $0.78 as I type.

Apparently the brilliant idea to sell a billion Dollar's worth of UST at 50 cents wasn't the best idea to convince investors that it was worth $1. Who wud hav thunk?

Meanwhile, Coinbase is filing their 10Q with the SEC and it has this amazing gem deep inside:

"Moreover, because custodially held crypto assets may be considered to be the property of a bankruptcy estate, in the event of a bankruptcy, the crypto assets we hold in custody on behalf of our customers could be subject to bankruptcy proceedings and such customers could be treated as our general unsecured creditors..."

Oopsies, actually double oopsies. If any of the resident punters still have any crypto on Coinbase, I can only recommend to remove it. Now.

LUNA looks certain to fail this morning

A shame, but quite genius how it was done and (if the rumours are to be believed) Citadel make a ~800m profit

  12. #5562
Not really a secret , you can see the attack on the Blockchains apparently

SEC will clamp down on stable coins, Tether next ...,

    Genius?

It was doomed to fail. And what would Citadel have to do with this, you have to lay off the conspiracy theories.

    What nonsense.

LUNA/TERRA was a bad idea to begin. When this piece of manure was dumped on hundreds of thousands of retail investors, that was where the crime happened. I find it funny that crypto bros are always happy to accept the pumps, but never the inevitable dumps. That it would eventually implode was only a question of time. Many more will follow.

For a good summary of the design flaws of LUNA, I recommend Matt Levine's brilliant and funny articles here and here.

    Who isn't accepting the dump?

I'm fine with it -- never invest more than you're prepared to lose

I'm not selling my LUNA, if it goes to zero, so be it. Looks like it will too!

    Are you still short BTC??

LUNA down another 72%, now trading at $5. And who would have thunk that one can buy a Dollar for 40 cents?

My bold prediction: LUNA will trade at $1 before TERRA.

    Yes, still short.

Sold at $48,000, subsequently increased position at $43,915 and $39,000.

Saw somebody posting yesterday having put all savings into buying 100,000 LUNA coins, about $3 million - worth $360k right now.

UST is a fully backed stablecoin. It is backed by LUNA, which in turn is backed by UST, which is backed by LUNA. Who could have thought that such a safe and sound construction could collapse?

I am sure this was a malicious attack by Citadel, Bill Gates and George Soros. Only the Dogefather can help us now.

Asking as a complete ignoramus about such things, what happens when the value goes to zero? Correct me if Im wrong, but these are not like company shares, if a company stock goes to zero, the company folds?

It's the other way around, when the company folds, the stock goes to zero because it has no value anymore.

For coins, I would suppose activity stops when there is nothing left to gain, but that might not happen for a long time. There are plenty of gamblers that will keep this alive as long as there is a venue left where they can trade, so dependent of if and when the coins get delisted. I expect the major exchanges will remove them quickly, but then there will still be the Defi platforms and it can continue for a long time there.

Complete meltdown of all shit coins. Maybe after all it does matter what you buy?

Just wait until Tether starts imploding. That will be the show of the century.

Rumors say Celsius Networks is bankrupt.

If you still have any coins there, try to get them out - even though many are reporting that withdrawals are suspended.

    Let me see.

    Five day performance:
    LUNA: -99%
    FLOKI: -52%
    SHIBA: -40%
    SOL: -39%
    DOGE: -32%
    ADA: -30%
    CRV: -29%

Pretty standard behaviour since the dawn of crypto.

It’ll be back soon enough. Just like the last 500 times it dumped.

I’m surprised at how resilient BTC is being. It certainly doesn’t want to let the support at $29k go.

Why didn't you do it, seems like an easy thing?

I can assure you this dump is far from over. You are only seeing the beginning. Keep buying those dips, each and every one of them is a steal until it isn't anymore. Maybe load some more bargain MSTR at $173, a cool 40% below the price you thought was steal three days ago?

Good chunk of my portfolio on there. Tried sending it out via ETH 45 mins ago, transaction still pending..

    Note on withdrawal email:
‘For security reasons, Celsius keeps a limited amount of funds available in its outgoing account. If the amount of coins you’re sending exceeds the available amount, we may need to manually replenish the outgoing account. Additionally, we may need to manually review and approve large transfers. This may take up to 24 hours, and occasionally longer in rare cases. Processing time may also be affected by blockchain congestion’

    Will be an interesting evening…
