My son dropped 2k from his student loan on BTC earlier this year and has made 700 quid so far. I dropped 5k into ALTs and have lost 500 quid, state of it, scumbag students

    Bitcoin

Long term Hodler here... using bitcoin as a savings account making weekly purchases for the longterm..

Do we have any "whole coiner's" in the room?

Will you be trying to time the market and sell near to the top and re buy cheaper or just continue to hodl?

I think this market cycle will be different from previous cycles and we wont see the usual massive correction ..

I think I'll personally be too afraid to sell and just continue buying the dips...

Insight Notes Linked to the J.P. Morgan Basket of Companies with Exposure to Cryptocurrency (Mar 2021) due May 5, 2022

Fully and Unconditionally Guaranteed by JPMorgan Chase & Co.

"The notes are designed for investors who seek exposure to the performance of the J.P. Morgan Cryptocurrency Exposure Basket (Mar 2021) of 11 unequally weighted Reference Stocks, which we refer to as the Basket, as reduced by the Basket Deduction of 1.50%. Notwithstanding the name of the Basket, the notes do not provide direct exposure to cryptocurrencies and the performance of the Basket may not be correlated with the price of any particular cryptocurrency, such as bitcoin."
    ...
"The notes are ... an unequally weighted basket consisting of 11 Reference Stocks of U.S.-listed companies that operate businesses that we believe to be, directly or indirectly, related to cryptocurrencies or other digital assets, including as a result of bitcoin holdings, cryptocurrency technology products, cryptocurrency mining products, digital payments or bitcoin trading, as specified under 'Key Terms Relating to the Reference Stocks' in this pricing supplement. The weights of the Reference Stocks were determined based in part on exposure to bitcoin, correlation to bitcoin and liquidity."

On the plus side…..I bought the dip. Now own a few alts and switched everything over to Coinbase Pro beforehand. Nice app.

Yes. You can safely buy for the next leg up to $500,000 minimum.

I wonder if this is just a fire sale or, to quote Jon Snow, "Winter is coming"?

Anything around 43k is a buy IMO, all the “experts” (pinch of salt) I follow, think that’s the floor now - but don’t wait for too long as the same experts predict 100k by December

    DYOR, YMMV, etc etc

Same expert that predicted a bottom at $50k last week?

No, PlanB & TheRoot on Twitter. He’s been saying 43k in September for quite some time.

I’ve also started following the Fear & Greed Index on Twitter which is quite insightful. They don’t have an Index for Regret & Animosity yet, I’ll link it up for you if it ever comes about.

PlanB is hilarious … seems to be a constant re-qualifying of why BTC is a mile off his S2F prediction.

I also note it has already gone below his “worst case” prediction for September.

Plan B? The majority of his tweets these days are COVID-denial and anti-vaxx stuff (he blocked me after I commented on one of his Covid denial tweets). But hey, whatever floats your boat. His 'worst case scenario' is predicting $135k before the year is out, so all good eventually?

I have no regrets, currently short from $51k and all good. If it indeed turns around and goes to $135k before the year end, I am sure I can pick up a good amount on the way up. I think I made about half of my BTC profits being long and the other half with short positions, so I don't really care (even though I still expect bitcoin to eventually go to zero).

I agree with you on his Covid posts - I don’t agree with everything he writes obviously. He said 43k for September and he’s not a mile off

The S2F model is under stress I agree, but not broken yet IMO

And I like the majority of your posts here too, just for the record — maybe more on the pizza thread, but always an interesting conversation none-the-less

Started to come back now but 40k was my liquidation price which I didnt think I would see, didn't have a lot riding as I have been dabbling with futures, well my last two attempts have been a loss via a stop loss and now a liquidation.

    Hmmm, time for a rethink!

Don’t try to be clever, is my advice. There’s people way more clever already in the game. Buy what you can afford to lose, and hold.

Anything else is trading, and that’s difficult for the man in the street

    Back at 42k now
